New Octavia ....when? How Much?

If you lived around Bathurst as Bobski does then the V6 wouldn't be that bad on fuel. The 103tdi can be improved for not much effort or money.

Weirdly, I've found the fuel is pretty much the same as when we lived in Sydney (admittedly we didn't use the car on the daily grind). Maybe the engine is just getting a bit old.

The Superb is definitely on the list, but AWD isn't necessarily. I'd only be going for the Scout to get on the odd beach or the occasional dirt track while visiting the neighbours. However, the Scout will need to be moderately enjoyable to drive, I don't see the point paying around $40k for a car that I don't enjoy driving.

The 135KW diesel might come to Aus in the Scout, so that is a possibility if the price is right. But the lower output is reasonable enough too once she's up and going.

Of course, keeping the VRS would be the most financially sensible thing to do (and maybe put some smaller rims on as suggested)

17inch min for the mk3 RS as the brakes are 340mm. Though the same question can be said comparing the 19s to 18s. I'd say there's a noticeable difference between the 17s and 18s

Finally, the boat has docked at Melbourne port! Any idea how long it will take for the car to be with the dealer after all the compliance checks? Not long to go now, can't wait.

I thought it was generally around 2 weeks from landing to delivery? Depending on where it landed of course.

they shutdown for a month in july, every year.
during this time they service & maintain the factory robots, paint shops, body shops etc etc. production/assembly is halted during this time.
this also signifies the change over from MY14 to MY15, for example, or MY12 to MY13, etc etc.

But people have July build weeks?!? I can understand shutting down for maintenance etc just wondered when.

My MY15 RS Octavia was built two Thursdays ago.. So MY15 models still built before the July/Aug break..
