I think Skoda should offer venom free extended warranty on the car when it arrives as a gesture of good faith. It will only cost them the wholesale premium price. I also think you must not be left without wheels while you wait. But I would take an old car over no car while I waited for the right car.

I see on briskoda, that the lead times for cars in the UK are coming down, with new purchases quoted 4-5 months for an RS - some are getting them delivered in 4 months. Others have mentioned that the factory seems to be shipping more cars.....wonder if its a sign we may start seeing some relief in order wait times. Would be nice......god knows it could hardly get worse here! Hopefully it was changes made a while ago that are starting to see some flow on effects. The factory shut down should also improve the build times as generally after maintenance there should be less machine downtime for a period (therefore more cars produced)

I hope they are looking after you venom! Most people would have walked and bought something else, rather than go back for another bite of the cherry and hope it tasted better this time....

Really appreciate the support lads. Got a call today from the dealer who had located a manual RS in Race Blue with one of the WA dealerships, has panoramic sunroof but non of the other options I had, so declined it. So all possibilities lead to a factory order, the wait continues. Unfortunately with things like this there is no easy solution I guess, you just have to wait it out. I have put forth my request for a loan car in the interim, to the salesman, who will get in touch with the dealer principle and get back to me. The icing on the cake was that I received a customer satisfaction survey from Skoda AUS on my new car purchase .

The Dp should give you his car if he had any balls my passat was off the road for more than a week due to a tough issue to solve under extended warranty the service manager gave me his own work car as loaner I assume he got something else from the yard or you think Skoda would find something for you. Have they offered any other compensation yet?

Haven't had any compensation offers. I have informed Skoda AUS of my demands and asked them to represent me in negotiating with the dealer, yet to hear back. I have asked for the extended 2 year warranty and a discount in the final price agreed on, seeing that the dealer had offered me the auto car for the manual's price. I believe this is fair and you have to ask to get.

To me, the point of buying a new car is to get exactly what I want (and can afford) and nothing less. If I was willing to compromise, then I would go for a used car and save some upfront costs. Dealers need to remember this about us - we are ordering optioned-up Skodas because we actually want the car, not some runabout to get from A to B.

Hi everyone, been test driving a few new cars of late and the new Octavia rs really impressed me. I was quoted high 43k, for a new rs sedan hatch in blue, teck pack which includes the reverse camera and upgrade sterio etc, black pack with the 18's and full leather seats and dsg. Can someone please let me know if this is a decent price? Has anyone bettered this price? I have read through almost 70% of this thread but not many have mentioned what they are actually paying for the car. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and the wait I was told is 12 months minimum.

Just ordered an Octy RS Combi TSI Manual today. Advised the delivery is expected as Feb / March. But as stated elsewhere until it's in the factory build schedule who knows.
Dealer sat me down and ordered the car in front of me, and asked me to confirm all items (Suspect word has got around re Venom or others !) So shouldn't be any surprises.

As a long time manual driver I fel Venom's pain and I wouldn't want to compromise with a dsg after ordering and waiting.
Hopefully mine will be all good, and the time will pass quickly. Don't want to get excited just yet.

The RS configurator is online now (It wasn't there a week or so ago when I last checked) so you can build your spec and get the list delivered price. Then compare with your price, and if you think the discount is acceptable then go for it. There will always be a better price somewhere else, or obtained by someone else. As long as you are happy with the price, what's a few hundred dollars over a 5 or 10 year ownership journey.

I suspect you were actually at the same dealer...Can't beleive we are looking at Feb/March already. I'm planning on getting something towards the end of next year and wasn't expecting to have to think about it this early. I might aim for early the following year now, may as well get and early year car, rather than a car thats the prior years car a month or so later.

seriously dont know how you guys can be that patient...

I for one need to always sell before buying, so planing ahead 6 months makes it hard to know when to sell .. and risk being without a car or not being able to sell in time without having a predictable and reasonable ETA
