I think he just needs a car provided until his arrives. I would think they could wear the cost of giving him a demo or something until then. It would also keep them on their toes to get him one ASAP. I think the average punter would have just taken the DSG at no extra cost, but I understand wanting a manual, I will be doing the same thing. They may be able to find something exactly the same in man spec and do a trade with someone who can wait a bit longer and offer them some extra goodies.

Thanks for the support VWW fraternity! A big thank you to Louise, Nick, Brendon, Peter, Ian and Keiran, if they are here, for your support to my FB post.
No updates yet, the social media manager was told that someone from Skoda AU will get in touch with me by close of play yesterday but I haven't received any calls so far. I'm very patient by nature and understand reasoning so just waiting it out a bit further. My main priority is that they provide me with a loan car, an Octavia RS would be fantastic but unlikely, till I take delivery of the car I ordered. I will definitely be looking for some monitory compensation because this whole process most likely will give me a bad credit history. I had applied for a loan to assist me in purchasing the car and now I will have to cancel it (I'm yet to hear back from the bank regarding how to proceed with it) and come purchase time for the actual car, apply again. Who knows what the interest rates will be at that point?!
So to put it mildly, as it stands I'm in a bit of a pickle!

EDIT: Quick update - Received a call from a Skoda representative just now, my case has been allocated to her. She has promised to get back to me by tomorrow with the findings and possibly a resolution.Last edited by vEnOm_oz; 05-08-2014, 03:48 PM.Walking Contradiction...

I last bought a car (Hyundai Santa Fe) in late 2011, the finance guy at Hyundai was dirty he couldn't get as good a deal and became a complete pain in the bum after that when he wasn't going to get anything out of it. He delayed sending a simple invoice for the car and mucked around so much that he caused my hire purchase to slip into a different interest rate (he knew they were going up that week so I copped that rise). The Invoice and the car details still don't match, it mentions a car built 2011 and it turned out when I drove home the car was old stock built a year earlier.
If its any consolation they reckon we are 18mths from any rate rises, but the way they work them is to allow for that and they are record lows at the moment. The bank won't be upset about cancelling the loan, but yes you do run a risk with the finance increasing over time.
It will all depend on where the mistake happened. I'm hedging bets it was Skoda Aus, in that case they seem pretty impotent at getting anything out of Skoda CZ. If it was Skoda CZ they could simply make your car tomorrow and load it on a ship if they wanted to. If it's Skoda OZ the best they could do is submit the order at the end of the existing line.Last edited by woofy; 05-08-2014, 03:45 PM.

Sorry to hear Venom. That is a massive stuff up and it amazes me that a company could get it wrong given the involvement of software in the logistics chain. And surely they have a QA step that would pick this up before it leaves the factory floor. I suspect an error somewhere between the order and the factory floor.
Its also not impossible that you might have someone else's car. A delivery stuff up? Dare to dream??
Good luck mate, I hope they get it sorted out for you with a simple solution and you don't have to wait for another build (that seems ludicrous to me and I'm afraid I'd walk if that is all they could do).

While inconsequential compared to yours when I got my passat wagon one side had Matt black body protection mouldings the other side had silver no one had noticed makes you question the pre delivery process I reckon the media would have a field day with this if you don't get traction with Skoda / VwaB6 Passat Wagon No KESSY

Thanks Bobski, makes you wonder doesn't it. Yes, we can speculate all we want and I'm sure the conspiracy theorists' in here are rearing to go. I'm keen to know how this might have happened as much as you are. With all the sophisticated modern software this points to a human error, but then my dealer said all his paperwork suggests that a MT was ordered.

Quite possible, although he said all his paperwork points to a MT ordered. If it turns out that it was the dealers mistake I will request that my business be given to another dealer just because he lied to me. That wouldn't make sense, why would he build me an automatic when that is more expensive than a manual?
Anyways I'll wait for all the details.
