  • I think different factories have different shutdowns. I have been wondering about the MY15s built before the shutdown. I would hazard a guess and say they may be MY14 but with the tech packs rather than MY15.

    • I dont think so - guys on briskoda already have theirs flat bottom wheel (vrs models) and modified cup holders in the rear and all!

        • Hmmm, maintenance shutdown may explain a few things ....

My dealer informed me that my car was about to be built when it 's status changed fro "Frozen" to blank. It's been this status for a week and a bit now until today as the dealer just informed me that its being built next Tuesday 29th July. So ... for anyone else who has been waiting a long time for MY15 Tech pack cars, check with your dealer as he may hopefully now have good news for you.

            • Newbie here. I've been trawling for info about the RS since we were deciding between this and an Audi - more than likely - and the decision has been difficult. Finally decided to pursue a TSI DSG with most of the options and i was getting the feeling my dealer was overestimating the delivery on orders after reading a bit on Briskoda/etc. Have been getting more and more worried about the impending purchase after getting excited about the car after reading the last 100 pages of this thread this morning.

To the point: i decided to check with Skoda Australia directly on order turnaround times as the dealer was adamant it would be December/Jan if i ordered now. Skoda says differently - April would be a good outcome, and likely far further forward than that. I see no reason why the logistics people would say that unless it was very likely the case. That is some way to stop someone ordering a car. No way are we waiting 9 or 10 months for a car simply because we want some options. Sounds like Skoda has some serious issues or they don't give a stuff about our market at all.

Anyway, hope this helps someone who might actually need a car relatively quickly. Also, i feel for people who in the past month have made an order as i can't see how they would possibly get their car before February if the pattern holds. We all know that some dealers (in certain situations) will say whatever they can to get the sale, so check with Skoda yourself if you have doubts like i have had. I would really, really love to get this car, but seriously....i cannot get my missus to agree to that wait....

              • I think the issue is its a new model car and is imo vastly superior to the model it replaces, hence the popularity. Personally i don't think they can be build them quick enough for Europe, let alone for Australia. Reading on Briskoda about the delays is one reason why i ordered way back in April. While the wait is a shame, the RS isn't the only one. Apparently there's a 12 month plus wait on a A45. What Audi are you looking at barfarina?

                • Thanks Barfarina. I'm another newbie who enormously appreciates reading all the posts in this thread so far. Having only just ordered an RS wagon w/ tech pack (3 weeks ago) I'm not yet ready to be chasing the dealer. But fwiw mine said September build date and delivery on the paperwork is 29 Jan. He swore it would be earlier though. Another dealer I talked to at the same time said August build and Feb delivery. Truth is I'm ready for it being 'flexible'. Can't have it all - great car and $4500 off the price...

                  • Hi everyone,

I went down the RS path back at the start of March with expected eta of late September. I ordered Moon white, all options except leather.
That was until getting no information about the order up until 2 weeks ago, which my dealer told me expected build date of Nov/Dec, delivery of Jan/Feb. To which I canceled the order....and bought a GTI.

                    But my dealer did show me the build allocations for the next few months which where as follows;
                    August-8
                    September-18
                    October-8
                    Nov/Dec-12

Apparently that was nation wide of both the wagon and sedan. I just wasn't willing to wait that long (being i orderd at the start of march), and i was able to find a fully speced out golf(that i pick up next week!) for not much more. It's a shame, but there slackness lost an order from me.

                    • If there was a mk7 GTI wagon on sale in Australia I would be tempted to cancel the RS wagon order if the delay blows out. Only tempted though. I see almost $10,000 better value in the RS.

                      • I was in the same boat, but i came to a compromise, as i love the GTI, which I managed to get quite a decent deal on due to being screwed around with the ocatvia.

edit; also the dealer told me all new orders have an eta of april/may...but that could get pushed back even further.

                        • For me it was down to the GTI and RS. The extra space and dollar value of the RS won out. Though I'm in a position to wait unlike some people. Also prefer the looks too.

My friend ordered his A45 beginning of September. Build date is scheduled for late October. Delivery eta, December...

While it doesn't seem immediately obvious a comparison we were tossing up between an Audi A3 1.8 TFSI Sportback (possibly quattro) and the RS. The A3 is similarly fast, well appointed and a bit tasty....for between 8 and 10 grand more and a little less size in the back. Doesn't sound as good though. Started lustfully at the S3 and decided it a little too expensive. Still might end up there, but there's a quite similar supply issue with the A3 line. Typical.

This week we've had the option of a silver Octavia RS with 18" Geminis (the only one in Oz apparently), sunroof and leather (missing a couple options these threads have now made me want) this week, but silver is the only "colour" we don't like - and we really want the candy white tbh. Damn us for being so picky i suppose!

                              • I guess I was lucky, I needed a replacement car in May, walked into my dealer, and he had just received an Octavia Elegance hatch, Tech Pack, Sunroof, TDI as a cancelled order. It was still in its plastic wrapper as well. I was there today and he has Octavia's all over the place in different specifications.
