The 18s look tiny inside the wheel arches I thought tho I guess it's less likely to suffer kerb damage.

Had a heart stopping moment when I hit the kerb turning into the local post office the other day. Then I checked - zilch damage. Benefits of running 17" on a Tiguan. My old GTR with 20" would be a goner.

No why must they keep me waiting so long! 2 months, 10 days so far from order, no build date in sight.....
Considering build date +2-3 months is delivery, thats quite a wait for a std octavia. Could have damn near gotten an rs.......

So it won't void warranty? When I go for warranty issues or service at dealer you take it to the APR tuner, disconnect it and then go to dealer?

Good to hear you like it. Has anyone with a new Octavia suffered the boom issue as per briskoda? Estates seem less likely to get it than hatches.

No boom as yet. Ride seemed a bit harsh and noisy on the freeway over the first few hundred ks but that has settled down. Really impressed with the DSG considering the number of naysayers about.

BTW the boom issue is discussed on Briskoda and Skoda is changing the standard shock absorbers from production week 28. Some dispute over whether this will actually solve the problem though.

Now the word is the new shocks won't be put in until Start of Aug. I did notice the sound when testing the elegance way back at launch in September or whatever, I haven't really had a quiet enough test drive since though (or that many).

I've put off buying a new car until I get a drive of the Scout. I've been very tempted to go for another VRS, but the poor quality roads around Bathurst are steering me towards a more cushy ride. As its the family car, I'd like something a bit more supple (and rugged wouldn't hurt either). I love that Skoda has such a wide variety! I'm hoping for a similar price reposition and the grunty diesel.

The funny thing is my wife is prodding me to buy another VRS lol.

Bobski - you should have a drive of an AWD Superb. Could be just what you need (especially if you retrofit 16"rims) & you'll get a low mileage one for about $20k less than a new vRS

If you lived around Bathurst as Bobski does then the V6 wouldn't be that bad on fuel. The 103tdi can be improved for not much effort or money.

It's like those folk on internet dating sites - if you insist on all the boxes being ticked then you'll be waiting a long time for your one true love.
