So I tried another octavia rs with the sports button this time, I like it. Last time I drove the octavia I gave it a hard time and didn't have a lot of time in it. This time I slowed it down, took it on the freeway, around the streets I usually drive on to get a reference to all the bumps etc. The skoda made me laugh again as it's a fun car, really like the dsg gearbox and power delivery. My ears kept trying to equalise, and after a while I began to feel nauseated. I opened the window all the way and this helped. It was like the cabin was pressurised....weird. Overall it's a great fun car, but not sure why it made me feel so odd, as I was fine soon as the window opened.

I'm thrilled seeing all these excited kids waiting for their toys! Can't wait to read all your reviews.
The cabin 'Boom' seems to be something that is widely reported in the UK and German forums with different people recommending multiple solutions with varying levels of success. I remember that I didn't notice this at all when I test drove a DSG hatch. Will be interesting to see how this pans out here.Walking Contradiction...

I tried the bmw 328i straight after it, and it was awesome, fantastic actually, everything you would need in an everyday car. Only 1 but...it was almost 20k more. So I'm going to try the bmw320diesel with all the added gizmos which will be around 50k which is slightly more but close to the specked up rs. Also as I really really like the rs, I'm going to go and try another one just to make sure it wasn't me, or the one off car that made me feel like it did when I drove it. I've now read up on the briskoda site and you guys are right, it is a common listed experience in regards to the boom and also people feeling nauseated, more so the boom. Man I really hope the next one I try doesn't as I want the skoda. Makes me smile when I drive it.

The soon to be replace C-Class is a very good car. I have the pre-facelifted model, the Kompressor model to be exact. Space wise, there is no comparison, It's quite cramped inside the merc. Refinement wise, it's very close. Merc offers more cosseting and quiter drive as opposed to firmer and rawer drive on the RS.
If space is no issue and you don't need the sporty drive, can't go wrong with the merc, never have a single problem for the past 7 (almost) years of ownership. The car is built like a tank.
Otherwise, RS for the bigger space, performance and smile factor.2011 Tiguan 125TSI - SOLD

Stiv: I do have a kid and child seat seat has been a permanent addition to the car and for the next few years. With the child seat on, it's very cramped indeed on the merc, you will have hard time fitting two adult comfortably at the back. With Skoda, not a problem. Yes the Skoda is my fun family car as well. Not to mention it's an excellent doggie transport as well, lots of space on the wagon and with the way the car rides, the dogs has no problem balancing on their legs.

Boot space on the Octavia is a big plus, but the console box and glove box are too small, the ones in Mazda 3 that I traded in are much bigger. I could fit a Melways in the glove box with room left to put chargers and even a smaller first aid box in the Mazda3 glove box. I could not fit a Melways in the Octavia and could not even fill the glove box fully as it would hit the media unit...
