  • Well not sure if my wifey does thing differently as she drives the car 85% of the time and with a lot of Hwy running, but we are soon coming up upon 70,000Km and still on the original tyres after getting the car late Oct 2011. We did rotate the tyres at around 43,000 due to a puncture, so will see how we go.
Oh and I do run the tyres on 38psi.

That's insane. 70k out of a set of tyres and only one wheel rotation!!! Care to share what tyres you're running please?

      • I've got 70,000km on the Michelin Primacy HP. Still plenty left.

Most would think my tyres are overinflated – but wear patterns would not agree. Brakes and roundabouts – almost never at the same time (the paddles are another story). My issue I am sure is that I like the torque and tend to use too much of it – and perhaps the quality of the roads I drive on – and my other half almost never drives the Skoda…….
Off to find some PS3s, but I will be surprised if I get more than 30k kms for a set. I hope I am surprised.
Fair enough mate - but we do have numerous Octavia's doing very good mileage on various tyres
Is a lot of your driving done with an above average load maybe?

            • so 3 wks on, and my wheels look filthy!!!
normally my wheels look like this after 2-3 months.

don't know if they glossy/shinny stuff they sprayed on attracts all the dirt/grim/brake-dust!!!
u can sorta make it out on the last pic below.
either that, or the new tyres r degraded bad

that aside - tires r still nice & quiet

              • yup the tyre shine they use just makes the brake dust stick to it.

instead of spraying it on, I wish they would spray it on a cloth or applicator and wipe it on the tyre - like I do.

I am so sick and tired of getting cars/tyres with greasy tyre shine!

Autogylm make a wonderful tyre product that leaves no sticky residual, looks fantastic and lasts 6~10 weeks

                    • those photo's are like those infomercials for anti wrinkle cream.

Why is your car bright yellow and crisp on day one, but pale yellows and blurry thereafter

^ Remsa pads are also excellent (very low dust) and available locally through GSL Rallysport (sponsor on here). So keem them in mind too. Ive got them on my R and my friend has them on his GTI and they are brilliant.

bhahha......that's the thing about yellow - it has so many shades, it depends on the angle, the lighting, the dirt/grime!!!!

with regards to the remsa & ate pads - what sorta prices am i looking at for all four corners?
