In all honesty, its not great. It really is a lot closer to worthless on large flat empty spaces. It still lights up the road for maybe 150m but apart from that, not much else.
The roos are still visible though

Either way - I'll collect a whole bunch of pics when I can!

        • They wired up the light bar relay to the left hand H1 bulb... So, the bog standard way to wire spotties.

The LED boot lights are bloody awesome, I've got some SuperSkoda ones.

          • The SuperSkoda interior lights don't work properly. For a start they send 2 kits, each of which have 1 big 'globe' and 2 small ones. That's what my front light has, but the rear one only has a single globe. So that's 2 small 'globe's' I've paid for which I have no use for.

I say 'globe's' because they're actually led panels connected to plugs that go where the conventional globes go. Yes they're very bright, but it's a very white light.

The problem is with all 3 front led panels in the 2 smaller ones don't ever turn fully off. They stay on very dim all the time the light is off. If I put one of the normal globes back in the remaining small led light then turns off. So I have the centre and drivers side light very bright white and the passenger a dull yellow. Looks naff.

They work properly its just that they operate on such a low current draw they stay on like that.
Its what allows the 'soft' on and off with incandescent globes.
If you don't like the little glow you will have to put some resistors inline to provide enough impedance to have them go dark.
When you lock the car the circuit goes fully off so they go dark.

I'm not so sure that they do!

Either way - mine don't bother me. They don't use THAT much power, afterall!!

I guess the best description would be a bright white version of a mid-2000's Falcadore high beam!...
                    But yeah, probably.

No they don't go off when you lock the car - so they're on all the time. They cost $57 so I want them to work properly! Otherwise I could have got some cheapo ones off ebay for the same result.

Not sure if I like them anyway. They look a bit too aftermarket. The glare is too strong.

They must have changed the lights. Mine stay on slightly until I lock the car. Then they turn off. Superskoda kit.

                        • There's a low voltage sent through the interior bulbs all the time... Thats what you're seeing.
Its not powerful enough to power the incandescents, but it can power the LED's.

                          • Some of the LEDs I've put in my house do the same thing - stay on at a low level or flicker for some time after they're switched off. Must just be an LED thing.

Has anyone had any luck/advice on replacing the H1 high beams on a 2012 Octy with HIDs?
I figure that as the low-beams stay on with the high-beams, it should functionally work well (no warm-up issue).
Thinking a 55W HID kit would throw a lot of light, and not draw any more power or produce any more heat, than stock halogens.

Would much rather super-power high-beams, than adding in any additional light fittings.

They are illegal to fit without washers and auto levelling and dont work well if fitted in the stock reflectors as they are not designed for HID and tend to flare like the sun.

Not that it seems to stop some people from doing it.
