Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

test fitted the wheels, i didn't plan on keeping them and only bought them to trial the size. they fit...
actually kind of like them, wondering whether to get them refurbished and keep them now. i don't like the chrome trim though, will probably get them sprayed same colour as front splitter and rear valance...

Those wheels are noice - i say keep them as they are.
Nothing better than a clean 5 spoke.

Now the only hard decision is which rubber? After numerous back flips I'm now maybe thinking Bridgestone re002 after a chat with Gav and he reckons they go well on the squib. Still searching though...

finally place an order on tyres tonight. i really struggled to make up my mind which brand to go for but after finding out that the ttrs are fitted with hankook s1 evo2's from the factory it only felt right to go with the those for the oem feel...
the ttrs at the brisbane audi dealer that finally convinced me…
nice rump…
i'm not actually that keen from the front…
and finally the tyre type, yes i know they are a BIT wider…

decided to finish off the non smokers pack by removing the ashtray. it's been a long time since i've smoked bifta's so i thought the cubby might come in more useful for throwing my phone / house keys etc…
the usual before photo…
removed the gear gaiter…
placed a cloth down and used a plastic trim removal tool to remove the top trim…
ashtray all removed and light taped out of the way…
new cubby installed…
and the usual after photo…
wasn't sure it was all the effort and skinned knuckles once i was finished. hopefully i'll appreciate it the next time i'm looking for somewhere to throw my phone after checking a street address etc. while parked with the handbrake applied, obviously...

so i ordered the hankooks, paid my money and received a reply that they are no longer in stock. great thanks…
received a full refund and now looking at goodyear f1 asymmetric 2's, hoping it might be a blessing in disguise. can anybody recommend a good semi slick in 235/35/19. i'm really not bothered about how quick they wear or road noise to a degree…
i will be placing the order tomorrow so want to move fairly fast on this...

I picked up some AD08 Rs today. The cheapest I could get them was $340 a corner fitted & balanced. If you're after Hankook, the RS3 is a very good tyre. Talk to Allan @ Z-car racing. He's a distributor in Qld. Al's a top guy and his workshop/office is worth a visit. The RS3 is around $265 a corner.Last edited by grandturismo; 08-04-2014, 09:33 PM.

If you're after Goodyear F1A2's in 235/35R19 Goodyear Croydon in Melbourne has them for $1,020 for a set of 4. Shipping is reasonable - check the wheel and tyre thread for details. Rubal is your man!
