thanks alex, im home from work but wrecked, will look for layout book in the morning
anyway yes, we can use the somewhat large smooth bitumen area at qld raceway, the reason we can get it cheap is because the ambo & staff are already there that day running some motorbike thing on the same day. NO OTHER FULL DAY THIS YEAR is available for the same $$$$
20people 100% willing to throw me $125 definately gets us that date, alll day.
no more than 40 people entered, keeps the value for money up
ive gone with the bitumen option instead of iwmac to encourage some of the nicer presented cars to go, its not as nice on tyres but the lack of rocks & trees is a bonus in my books
ignoring dirt this IS the cheapest way we can do this, no its not super cheap but its a start, thanks for the support
im going to do a few checks to make sure nothing motorsport wise is conflicting on that day, then hopefully get some aircooled racers involved for some fun.
for those not familiar with the area, its next to the end of the main straight of the circuit, and kinda the bottom end of the drag strip, its got a go kart setup on it on google maps i believe. but yeah 40m wide 200ish long so every layout will work fine with heaps of run off.
approaching the rest of the committee next wed for the meet to get them interested in promoting it.
so hopefully more info soon. cheers guys!
nite!

helmet and a cams 2ns licence (just filling out a form) and a willing navigation not prone to motion sickness.
yes motorkhana day - hopefully not too boring - aimed at anyone & everyone wanting to do something amongst friends - gain interest in bigger events in future

** All information I provide is probably incorrect until validated by someone else **
idea is on the backburner again, clubs response wasnt favourable enough
but in other news, looking into an option thats potentially alot more fun for less $$$ at another venue, still motorkhana but with a lil something extra on the side

Track Attack run sprints and other things at QR and Lakeside weekly.
Also there's a breakfast that clubs can book at Lakeside, held early Sunday mornings, for $20apprx you get a full cooked breakfast and as many laps as you can do in half an hour before the sprints etc begin.
I believe for $145 you can enter into 4 rounds/series in a sprint day at these tracks, thats about half a days worth of racing/sprints.
I did attend ADT driver training at Morgan Park a few years ago, then it was $180ish for half day... is expensive, but well worth it
I'd definitely be keen. Lakeside is a great track, nice and flowing, great for the average punter with a reasonably standard car. QR is a bit too fast and therefore hard on brakes etc. I'm not too interested in competing or risking pranging up my car, more just want to have a bit of fun and see what it can do, in a legal and relatively safe setting. I think most of us with new or newish cars would be the same??
Lakeside EATS cars. you push too hard or get cocky and the bill gets very big very quickly.
QR may be flat and boring, but when you spin @ T1 doing 100mph you only end up in the sand, no broken panels. I would think the majority would prefer a new set of pads over the other outcomes.
Morgan park is a good alternative, its fast and flowing, challenging, while not being too hungry for sheet metal. its just a long way to go for a afternoon.
I'm still keen to do anything that pops up, so hopefully something goes ahead.
Still working on it guys, life's getting in the way so it's on the back burner that's all

I guess that comes down to knowing the limits of your ability and your car. That advice was from my father in law who owned a V8 supercar team and some other race teams before that. He much prefers Lakeside. Each to their own I guess, I'd rather drive at 80% on an interesting track than push it to the limits on an open and boring one. Plus Lakeside is closer to my house Actually with that in mind, that could be why my father in law likes it too!!
