I"m definatly down with any form of racing... Could put the Recliner in the cabrio and become an armchair racer if my car craps out rofl... Should always be prepared. However knowing how much things cost these days I am sure I could start putting away for a "race fund", With this not smoking I'm saving a butt load of cash... I know what my money is going to now!

car, jeans, shirt, helmet, fuel & a sense of fun should be about all thats required will confirm specifics once the interest is there, its getting close. ill give it another week & i should have the numbers interested to justify asking for a date
cough saturday prior to action day would be ideal cough cough
again, this is a stepping stone, it will happen whenever we can get it sorted, given hopefull growing interest it may happen more than once a year.
thanks for the support guys/and girls
PS next club meet is 13th plug plug plug plug.

purely spitballing but perhaps a newbie/skill refining day AND a more competitive based day could keep the interest up/growing if someone shows interest later down the track if/when we have something going on thats full size but dont want to jump in the deep end so to speak.

              Me either mate.
Apparently you just hit up a motorbike store (heaps at Springwood) for an approved one.

Can't wait to see this thing get happening.

Yup, A new open faced helmet (ala scooter style) is around $80 from down at Springwood motorbikes shops. At QR, you can hire them for a very reasonable price (~$10-20 from recollection). An open faced helmet also allows you to maintain your peripheral vision, so would be my recommendation.

I have a full face, but thats cos I live in hope that one day I may man up to buy a motorbike (not likely, but full of optimism).

i have a full face, seems to work fine, used an open face at the vw driving experience at norwell & only difference i noticed was its lighter and you can hold conversation, moto/downhill mountain helmet was the least comfy, borrowed a friends for a drift thing & wasnt as comfortable, motorbike shops, or if your on the northside extreme motorsports, southside has racer industries-and adr approved bucket seats, not that that matters if you have a car from the airbag vintage though

Interesting to hear about the rental helmets.
I would probably only do 1 or 2 a year so it might be best for people to do that rather than having to upgrade every few years to newer standards.

Yeah i got a cheapo MotoX helmet a few years back (off ebay) and they let me use at willowbank raceway so with a bit of luck this should be ample for a circuit day.

It does have Aus/NZ standards on the back and inside.

depends on the circuit / event rules as motorbike helmets are designed to behave differently to a car helmet and i am pretty sure they fit different aust standards i know if people being knocked back for using motorbike helmets at some events

Full Throttle Motorcycles at Slacks Creek is where I bought my AS1698 helmet from for under $100 IIRC.
