im in for sure!!!! any date is fine by me....

if i cant get time off work, i'll just quit my job. after my last ''important office job'' [which i just quit], it made me realise that at 28 years of age, i've already let WAY too much ''working for the man'' prevent me from doing the things i REALLY wanted to do. never again....

I'm looking forward to this cruise, I really want to make it given how awesome the last one was..... But I will be bringing some quality beer this time!!!! No re-gifted stuff!!

yeah, travel time is an absolute life sucker.

none of that for me now, being unemployed and all! lol.

im actually thinking about hooking up a job at autobarn, if i can, whilst doing my one-day-gonna-earn-money business prep during off hours. then maybe i'd get discounts on detailing stuff!

I don't have time to read the entire thread, but I have lots of experience on these roads. Done this trip from South West Sydney 3-4 times now. I will have a read tonight.

OK I've had a read and it sounds like you've got a good plan in place.

This is the regular drive we do

Same as below except I started from Cooma and so didn't go via the Berridale.

Jindabyne, Adaminaby, Kiandra, Cabramurra, Khancoban, Thredbo Village & back to Jindy - Google Maps.

It's 314km and 5 hours. Jindy has 98, Khancoban only has Premium, not 98. Out there you better not care which fuel you use cause you don't get any choice, Jindy is Caltex, Khancoban is Shell.

As for a place to stay, that place sounds OK. When I go for the snow I've stayed here, Mad Mooses. It's an unreal place, I love it, Stewie is a fantastic host and it's more like staying at your mates place rather then a hotel. I'm down there in 3 weeks time for 3 days, 4 people in their loft is $160 pp. They do GREAT breakfasts every morning. My mate Damo, who I go down with for snowboarding, also stays there in summer with a MASSIVE group of bike guys, prob 20 odd bikes. So I'd suggest when closer, when we have a firmer date and numbers, you give them a call.

As for dates, well I wouldn't make any date in January. NYE is a massive nights celebration for me and I tend to go back to work sometime after the 10th. If I were to come it'd have to be December some time. However I understand the Vic's have a long drive ahead of them so I'm happy to provide the info if I can't come down.

I must say, when I've gone, it's been with a selection of MINI's and we've pushed the limits. Everyone needs to drive to their limits and skill level. The quality of tarmac is 100% and it needs to be as you don't want pot holes covered in snow. Last time I went, the weather was terrible, it was so bad that we got stuck for more then 2 hours with a massive tree fallen over the road. We had to wait for someone on the other side to turn up with a chainsaw. There was no option for turning back as we wouldn't have had the fuel.

                        So any more questions?

Maybe its a good idea for everyone to carry a 5 litre jerry with them.

Awesome Floody! Thanks heaps for taking the time to write it up. Your route looks shorter which is probably a good idea. Maybe if we do it clockwise we can top up tanks with premium at Khancoban which should see us all the way back to Jindabyne. Even for the lead footed polo drivers and their teeny 45L tanks

I'll look into the other place you have suggested in regards to accomodation. Ultimately I guess it depends on how many people show interest in coming. This will dicate the style of place we get. I really want some form of big share house that we can all congregate in and not just separate hotel rooms though, so the one you have suggested looks like a possibility as well.
