  • VIC & NSW - Snowy mountains cruise/weekend

After the success of the Victorian High country cruise im now working on planning a weekend up in the snowy mountains.

    When: Probably December/January
Where: Looking to hopefully stay at Winterwood in Jindabyne Winterwood Jindabyne Snowy Mountains

Why: To enjoy the company of like minded people (translates to drink beer all night, Drive all afternoon)

I was thinking a similar format to the previous event.
Drive up on friday and spend the night settling in.
Big snowy mountain circuit cruise on the saturday followed by kicking back in the evening.
    Cruise home on sunday arvo.

There is a possibility of padding out the stay for a day or two more if people wanted to. To be honest I dont know the area that well so if people have suggested cruise routes or any ideas on places to go, things to see then spit it out!

Obviously this is early stages just now but id rather organise sooner rather than later.

As mentioned. Its all up for discussion.
Keep in mind I want to do the vic high country weekend again this summer as well. So would be good to not have the two events too close together.

Im guessing anywhere between November - March would make for decent weather.

        Nov is usually DOVW.
Maybe late Nov/early Dec for Maroondah damn BBQ

This is gonna be insane! I don't know if I'll have anything else planned at the time, still too far to tell, but I would be up for it.

yep on a scale of insanity if the Vic high country effort was dubbed the Super Mega Cruise this will be the super doopa mega maniac cruise to end all cruises.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with fuel availability in the area? Obviously fuel stops would need to be calculated. I think the polo boys had a range of only around 300kms in the hills.

some details of the proposed accomodation. I am hoping cost will end up being $30 - $35 pp per night max.

                      6 Bedroom quality house

Winterwood apartments are located in the heart of East Jindabyne.

Boasting gorgeous views of Lake Jindabyne this large 6 bedroom and 3 bathroom offers you cosiness and comfort. These joined apartments have plenty of space to relax with spacious bedrooms (crisp white linen, towels and extra blankets are supplied) and large lounge/dining area with TV/DVD.

For those wanting to cook up a feast there is 2 complete kitchens with electric cooking/microwave, 2 fridges and all the utensils you'll need. Room heating will ensure every area is well heated and super cosy. There is plenty of off street parking, and lock up ski storage at the rear and laundry room for all your ski and board gear.

Winterwood Apartments are non-smoking however there is a balcony that stretches the length of the upstairs apartment letting you take in the beautiful lake during day and the sparkling lit town at night.

Bedroom 1: King Split + 1 set of Bunks (Ground floor)
                      Bedroom 2: Queen + Ensuite

looks like a massive cruise! it's like 3 hours to albury area, let alone then hitting the twisties!

                          I really like this idea!
So to the people thinking of going... you bringing a sporty-ish car along?

I'm totally up for it, but if you're planning on only going as fast as the slowest person, well...
I can drive fast when I have a car that permits fast driving!

I'll see where my MK1 is by that stage, and I will have hopefully met most of you by then too.

Its more a social weekend than a race. Although we did give it a good squirt through the vic high country. Everyone at their own pace is what all of my cruises are about. Its compulsory to have a UHF radio so we have good communication between cars.

Its also possible to go passenger in someones car if you dont think yours is up to it. I think everyone will agree that went on the last big one that it was a very memorable weekend.

Ive stayed in Jindabyne a couple of times and East Jindabyne is the nicer side (its quieter and has better views, but all of Jindabyne is nice!)

If the weather permits, lake Jindabyne is a superb swimming spot too!

Im totally in for this. Anytime around Spring/Summer would be good. Maybe October?
