if it's early Jan I may be in New Zealand but it would be a nice time of year up there.
Jarred, it doesn't get anywhere near as hot there as it does in any of the major cities

1st of Jan is a saturday.
So that means if we wanted it at the start of the month we would either need to head up on friday the 31st of dec (NYE) or Friday 7th of Jan.
Not sure how people would feel about NYE in the sticks.
I might be in Hawaii around early Jan.... BUT I will try to firm up dates for that trip so I can come...... I sure hope there is fuel every 300km or else it might be a case of bringing a jerry can

well it sounds like there is support for the date.
Just need to do some more research as to what the roads are like.
Does anyone have experience with the roads selected for the saturday loop? Wouldnt want to do such a massive drive if it was going to be borrrriinnnggg. Would be nice to have a mix. Also a couple of nice spots to stop for a break?
Nothing boring about those roads. They are wiggly on the map for good reason. Its snow country.
Mostly good quality bitumen roads. Plenty of places to stop for piccies and otherwise. A good number of the Snowy Hydro dams and workings in that area.

Awesome
Ive driven some of them and they were awesome. But its always nice to get some relatively local feedback.
Sydney boys seem kinda quiet on this one. Looks like it will be another Mexican Invasion
