SE QLD Drive Day

OK guys, I've made a booking at the Historic Meringandan Hotel for our lunch on our drive day. I've made the booking for 8-10 people but this can be revised up or down as needed. Could I have an indication from those who are coming and also how many people you're going to have in your car. The Hotel has asked me to confirm numbers with them before the day. I promise all of you that you'll enjoy the feed.Hope there aren't any Vegetarians? They might have some options but I'm not certain. Anyone who can finish the entire mixed grill will be doing VERY well. Prices are also very reasonable.

How many people in each car? I'll need to keep track of all of this to give approximate numbers to the Hotel Bistro.

Looks like I'm going to do a dry run this sunday just to check the road out and see how long it all takes. If anyone from Toowoomba wants to come along just let me know.

I thought that it might have been your car that was parked in Tern Street outside the flats earlier this year. I used to drive past it most days because I live just around the corner.

I drive a silver 2001 Bora 4Mo and my wife drives a midnight metallic blue 95 Vento.

If you drove up from Tassie then the drive to Toowoomba should be no probs.

no i didnt drive from tas in the golf(gf's nissan pulsar), i bought the car from nsw though... i have to install a rear brake regulator cause i have installed rear discs, its ok for normal driving but for that bit extra it needs the regulator or the rears lock up... and i have a fuel pressure prob to????

Well I just got back from the "Dry Run" of the route we'll take on the 26th. Pretty great overall I think with some especially nice areas on the esk-hampton road.

The stats were: (you'll see I wasn't particularly speeding)
Toowoomba to Esk 55 minutes and 81 klms.
Esk to Hampton 30 minutes and 45 klms
Hampton to Meringandan 12 minutes and 20 klms
Meringandan to Gatton (Highway) McDonalds approx 45 minutes

I think we should aim to meet in Esk just outside of the town council building at 10:30 and leave by 11am. My mobile is 0411109457 so if anyone is running late just call me, otherwise we'll leave at 11 sharp.

We'll stop somewhere scenic on the way up to Hampton to just chat and take some photos for the forum etc

Get to Meringandan Pub between 12 to 12:30 and pace ourselves eating a super meal and talking more.

We'll be at lunch for at least one hour and will leave lunch by 1:30-2pm at the very latest.

My best guess is that we'll be down to the McDonalds in the Lockyer Valley by about 2:45. We'll take some final photos there and then everyone can head home when they choose.

I'm hoping that it works out to be a fun day for all. If all are keen we can do another one sometime early next year closer to the Sunshine Coast or in the Gold Coast hinterland.

If your name is here but you definitely WON"T BE COMING, just post a response so we'll know who to expect on the day.

If your name is here and you ARE COMING you don't need to do anything and we'll see you on the 26th and will assume you are coming for the planning purposes of the hotel we're having lunch at. I know I'm being a bit uptight about this but I just don't want to muck the hotel around with inaccurate numbers. I know what it's like to be in business.
