Yes, they are probably technically correct that there is no law in Europe that makes a "defeat device" illegal. However, taking your 14-year old sister as your date to the Year 12 Formal is not illegal either but that does not mean that you do it or brag about it afterwards

Recall will begin in March. A bit later on for 1.6L units.
I'm going to wait and wait and wait for reports of what is happening with the engines pre/post recall. I might even send an email into VW that they should be offering to pay for my servicing for the rest of the time I own the car for accepting the recall work to be done.
