Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yeah, don't know, it is close ... in size and intent, but the shape is a little different ... if you got a citation I reckon you would have 50/50 in front of the magistrate....

I called them on Friday to arrange an appointment to test drive one. I went in on Saturday at Brighton Toyota, he asked if I was going to order it and I said I wasn't sure, I wanted to test drive it first. His response was unless I order it before the test drive I can't test drive it. Of course he didn't say this on the phone, I called the manager at the dealer he said the same thing. Funny thing was I was actually considering it as a viable replacement to my GTI until he said that. I walked straight out.

That attitude reminds me a of a few Volkswagen salespeople. Their cars were flying off the showroom floor, so they felt they didn't need to bother with undecided buyers.

Not surprised the same thing is happening with the 86, as the waiting list for one just keeps getting longer...

It's because they're doing so well that they don't feel the need to chase every customer for a sale.

One guy on ozaudi was saying his mate went to BMW and was ignored and then went to Mercedes and bought 3 high end cars and took the proof of purchase to the BMW dealer who then offer a very good deal but he rejected it

Goes to show you that you don't know who your rejecting

They probably have a LOT of people who just come to take it for a spin who arent actually interested in buying one, just want too see what its like. So I can see both sides of the story, although I don't like the way theyre going about that. I definitely wouldnt be putting a deposit down on a car I can't test drive first if I was in the market for a new car.

That's certainly the salesman's loss at least.

Looks good, maybe a bit better the 86 twins, but mostly because it's just different.

Actually, it's not the most inspiring design if you ask me.
