Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

        • This was new? shouldn't happen unless there maybe some excess pressure. Id be fixing whatever way, and then making sure the cooling system pressure is right or itll start taking out more weak links in the system.

Yeah that's kinda what I thought, there has to be a reason for it to fail. One of the hoses that goes into the heater core has a bit of a kink in it, would this cause excess pressure. I'm gonna take out the turbo inlet tonight and trim those pipes so they sit better, it's just so damn tight back there

                • So car is running again, no coolant leaking and no tow trucks . Decided to celebrate by ordering some dba rotors to finish of my r32 brake setup and also ordered one of these VW Short shift kit for MK4 5 speed . Next on the list are engine mounts then its time to think about a decent diff and clutch setup. Gotta see how it handles the power once the full tune gets loaded on.

Nice! Good to hear its back together.

I spent the other night putting my induction kit on the xr5, which turned into an absolute mission of breaking stuff haha bloody cars.

Runs good now on stage 3+ tune. Keen to go for a drive when yours is 100%!

Will definitely be keen for a run once the tune is sorted!! Should be doing some logging with Gavin on the weekend, hopefully it won't turn into another rescue mission

                          • Dieselgeek short shift kit arrived today

Fitting was very straight forward, just followed along with the video on my phone. Here it is hidden away

This has to be one of the easiest and one of my most favourite mods I've done. It really transforms the feel of the shifter, so precise with nice short throws. It's a little notchy but apparently this goes away after a little while.
