  • I had a set of the Adrenaline's, they were great. Grippy, lasted a while and were quiet too.
    Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.

    • 215/40/17 - Marangoni Zeta or 225/40/17 Kuhmo KU36?

Will be using for street with occasional track. Based on budget. Opinions?

      • Anyone had any experience with Kumho KU21 or KU23s?

I have been offered these at $240 and $150 respectively in a 215/45/17 but i'm unsure if these are nice or not.

I have to agree. I have the KU31's and they are excellent for the price (I paid $106 for 205/45/16).

            • I will be going the KU31's I got quoted a really cheap price from QLD in a 205/40/17

I would rather have a KU36 but i dont want a 215/45/17, if i was getting that size i would get the KU36's

I'm still thinking about this as well. I want KU36 but not sure if 45 will sit too high. I can lower it, on B8's + HRs but will need to work out whether it will scrape? Anyone running 215/45/17 without any problems?

                • Depends on your offset / wheel width.

I'm running 205's with a 32 offset and 7.5 wide wheel. the stance is perfect (well, legal) but I think the extra rubber would make it rub. Should work fine with a lower offset, I think a 40ish offset should work fine with a 7" rim (as long as it clears your suspension).

Hey Ben, hope you're doing well.

I got 17 x 8 +35mm offset. I know Kelvin runs these fine on 215/40/17 but want to know if this would fit fine on 215/45/17 with B8's and 35mm HR springs. Will probably need to do more research.

                    • Not sure mate... I'd think that with the 35 offset but 8" width you'd be sitting pretty wide...

According to the 1010 wheel offset calc, you have 3mm more poke, 8mm less inside clearance for the rim...

Doubt you'd get 215's to fit without rubbing on the H&R's, but I'm not experienced in this area... The H&R's sit a little higher, but seem to allow more travel than my setup. I think the 205's would look sweet, slight stretch but still inside normal wheel - tyre fitting spec.

Hey Ben, do you mean 30mm? I don't get it when it says 8mm less inside clearance for the rim.. what are they referring to? Any pictures to illustrate this besides the pic on 1010.. lol

                        • your rim is 8", which is 1/2" wider than mine and 1" wider than stock.

The lower offset makes the wheel sit further out, but as its a wider wheel, will also extend furter in.

                          • Does anyone have experience running on Kumho KU 36's as their daily tyre? Not sure the KU 31's will be up to the regualr track assualt, but at that price I'm really not too fazed.

                            • Don't know if anyone here is runnig them on the Polo. 31's are a decent tyre, in 3 weeks I'll know how they handle some track abuse.

My 31's are showing wear on the outside edge, but I do tend to give them abuse, so not suprised...

A mate has the 31's on his clio sport and had done one track day and wasn't impressed with them. But I wonder whether it's mixed expectations that the car should be doing something miraculous as it's on a race track.

Just crank your tire pressure up, on reflection I should probably have ran greater pressure on the conti's last week as I ruined one, the internal belt let go, tread block has warped and also has 4 holes which look like little explosion indents. I'll take pictures one day and post em, I've never seen a tyre do this. Was talking to a friend who's a tyre expert and he mentioned it'd likely taken a hit in the past (pothole) that had weakened it, and with the temperature generated it now let go.
