Goodness gracious!

Out of interest I just rang a local VW parts place.

Rough quote of $1300 () and yes, that's just the outer!

They also confused the matter by saying there are different models - despite my making it clear it was the GTI steering wheel, which AFAIK only comes in the one colour.

I'm sure there are people here much more savvy in finding parts at sane prices - anybody care to have a try?

afaik the r32 wheel is the same just with a different chrome badge insert.

just hit up german ebay. ill be getting one in the next month or two from there.

To be honest mate, I hope the bastard I bought it from gets hit by a car.

I think he was upset the auction only got to 99 that he held on to it for a while then messaged me saying it got returned because the address I gave was incorrect, then held it at ransom for 13 more euros before he would attempt delivery again! Since then he raised his starting price on his auctions.

they are selling the golf 30th ed (red stitching) steering wheel for around $505AUD but they do group buy's so might be able to do better.

I agree, it is a bit expensive, but the thicker gti wheel does feel alot better... ask the girls!!

..not sure about $500's better though.

but if you're french, you'd think its more important than performance

$500 is the ballpark for decent aftermarket steering wheels like Momo, so I don't think it's outrageous for this wheel. $1300 is.

If you did a side-by-side comparison you'd see an immense difference in the wheels - yep, from my experience girth matters!

might also mention that you can also get it with the multimedia buttons - though Im not so sure the stock polo stereo is compatible

that might sound weird, but the one and only thing i love about the Golf is the steering wheel, and it made me think twice. Even though my car hasn't been delivered yet heheh im in all the way. Just wondering how it would affect the warranty? does anyone know?
