Also.. Sharkie, you're a motorsport fan, thought you might like to read this article by jeremy clarkson (top gear presenter). Though you have probably already seen it.
Yes, seen it before. He is quite funny but as someone pointed out to me on this forum a while ago, not a serious journalist before (when I referred to a different article of his) but rather an entertainer.
I still like him because he is not afraid to say things that comes to mind, even if they are stupid things at times.....
VW did not actually limit the Polo to 110kw because it thought it could not handle anymore.... The Polo Cup with no real changes other than a different bodykit and bigger wheels and 132kw is testament to that... but probably because it 1.) knew that at 110kw the engine would last a very long time and 2.) with more power would steal sales from the Golf GTI due to the price difference which is quite substantial in all markets they are both offered in the world.

BTW ... Nobody who actually took the time and money to add choice performance mods to their cars would even remotely consider fitting anything other than the best possible tyres .... see a number of other threads for that.
$500 for 10kw?

Polo GTI is plenty fast I dare say, my match is quick enough for our overpoliced roads - would love some more torque though.
I don't think it's fair to simply dismiss Jeremy Clarkson as an "entertainer", he's clearly learnt a thing or two about cars along the way. While not everyone may agree with his assessment of the Polo GTI, he makes a valid point about pushing the car way beyond its design brief and limitations, eg chassis, FWD, weight distribution, brakes etc.
He does, however, completely contradict himself at the end of the article .."So instead of buying a £13,000 Mini Cooper, go for an £11,000 Mini One — which is exactly the same — and then pay someone with an Oedipus complex a hundred quid or so to change the map". So it's ok to chip a Mini, but not a Pog
I suspect he had some supercars to drive and review that week and had little time (or interest) in writing a definative review of the Polo GTI.
Hey .... I did not refer to him as an entertainer intitially, but when I dared support his review of the 1.4TSI GT in the MK5 forum, I was told in no uncertain terms that he was ...
He certainly is very opinionated and do not necessarily have an open mind about many cars. I also suspect he prefers supercars to driving little hatches for unbaised reviews.....

Yeah and I don't reckon Jeremy has sleepless nights wondering how a bang-for-buck FMIC could be developed for the Polo GTI either
Speaking of which, are you going to get your FMIC tested, eg dyno, pressure tested. Your desciption of the difference is a little lacking mate
When I put the APR FMIC on, I didn't know what to expect. When I drove it, I felt a massive amount of extra grunt coming through, and it felt so strong. Got it dynoed at gave an extra 12.5kw atw (as well as levelling out the AFR). Performance was more consistent too, despite the weather (hot or cold temps).
Driving it after the FMIC went on yesterday reminded me of the time I drove APR's red Polo (with the works) . 1st impression was holy s#$t......
Don't want to make any other predictions, will wait for tomorrow's Brisbane dyno day to see how it stacks up....
BTW Guy's MK5 GTI stage III will be there as well ......

It's just the English stroking off about the mini again.
Actually - all Clarkson's pointing out is that the Mini One (not sold here) and the Mini Cooper are the same car, besides the different ECU tune. Same chassis, same engine, (probably?) the same tyres, even.
With the Polo GTI, he's suggesting that sticking more power under the bonnet might expose some handling deficiencies. Let's be fair here - with the amount of people with the aftermarket Whiteline swaybars on this forum alone, he's probably got a point.
I spoke with Robert and Katja and it is definitely the 30th ed with red stitching although it appears that those that were interested have changed their minds because qt the moment I only have 2 confirmed.
Im still interested but there just haven't been enough details to put the money down . How much will shipping be, how much will the price be in euros just so it can be set in stone really would they be able to take the price down further? I've looked around and it seems thats about the right price. But yeah, we wouldn't want them checking our posts either
Also the difference between 5 and 10 is not that much. And either is not much different from the individual price. So i guess unless they make a significant discount it would make more sense to buy it individually at our own leisure and im sure some people would be able to get better deals on shipping or get someone to get it back from germany with them or something.

Hi Daniel,
thank you for your request.
We will be happy to offer you a group buy deal.
However, I will have to say right away that there is not that much margin for OEM items, and we are also dealing with bad currency conversion rates right now.
I will offer the best possible price, but where you guys can really save money is by shipping all wheels in one shipment. That saves a considerable amount of shipping charges!
The minimum order quantity would be 5 steering wheels.
SW-215-1
VW OEM Golf 5 GTI Edition 30 Standard steering wheel, without airbag
5 piece or more: USD 439 per wheel
10 piece or more: USD 429 per wheel
Because the prices are calculated so tightly we would prefer one single payment via bank transfer. Do you think this could be arranged?
Let me know if you have any questions
Thank you
Katja
