Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have the Porsche twists arriving next week, and I hope to have them fitted to the car with tyres next Saturday. After that I will look at getting a set of coilovers after I get back from the USA and settled in when I move down to Canberra."If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

With the debadged grill, I found the FK item on the Venom Motorsport site, but after trying to deal with them to get this item last year, I am pretty sure they won't send to Australia. Try them out though.Last edited by Blitzen; 16-10-2010, 04:25 PM."If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

Before we took the front bar off, we had no idea how to do it... We just plodded along, took the screws off on the inside of the wheel well, along the top of the bar near the grill, the clip in studs under the car, and the clips behind the fog light surrounds, and pulled the bar off... That took 15 minutes... Then it was simply a case of finding center on the lip and the bar, lining them up to where we wanted it, and drilling pilot holes for the screws... The lip is very flexable, so its easy to bend to the curvature of the lower bar valance... The whole job from start to finish took just over 2 hours... I think we did ok considering that we had never fitted one nor pulled the front bar off before."If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

In the meanwhile I got the car back- now I'm only waiting for another set of honeycombe grilles from vaglink - because they have replaced the two broken ones with stock ones :| .

Now to hear the difference...........
I still haven't been able to figure out how to get the carpet from over the wheel arches without damaging it - so still have to do them...
and the hatch will be done whilst installing the reversing camera

Yes and no to the noise difference - it does noticiably lower the noise level but does not make all the noise dissappear.
Until i do the wheel arches like Polo GTEye N9 has done you still get plenty of road/tire noise which is where it seems the real problem is in the back.
The wheel arches has some sort of covering from the factory - but i cant get the damn carpet out to do mine in dynamat.
Another benefit is that it helps with an issue raised by Babu in one of the air con threads - the floor of the boot gets really hot above the muffler - the dynamat helps a little with this heat transfer into the car - probably not much but every little bit helps
