Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

All I need now is a set of coilovers...
Did you take the bumper off for this?

I really have to stop being lazy and fit this thing, it's been sitting in my garage for 6 months!

Yeah man, we took the bumper off. We trimmed the tabs down flat in the center, and starting from the center to the outsides, we screwed it on, then trimmed up the overhangs at the ends. It took about 2hrs to do.

Haha, we talked about that as we were putting the front bar back on!! Unfortunately we totally forgot to take pictures. Seriously though, it isn't a hard job. We used a razor blade to d the trimming, a Phillips head screwdriver, a cordless drill for pilot holes, and torx bits to get the front bar off.

                  • Yeah i've seen those But i am more curious to see what it looks like, because in this case Blizten, trimmed the middle posts all the way down. Others only trimmed it slightly - Wondering how big the middle intake looks in comparison.

It's only 5mm difference. I did it so it looked flush. I'll get pics when I can.
