Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Think that would have been me. Some other people have commented similarly but many are happily using this setup, so I may have had a bad experience compared to others...

Yeah still the stock shocks with 70mm drop K-Mac springs took the spacers off the back but could probably run them without too much issues.

For the most part it feels fine just like on the H&Rs except now some bumps are bone jarring... and you don't want to hit any dips at speed cos the whole car completely unsettles... but that was the same on H&Rs though these springs settle down quicker.
Will try it out in the dandenongs one night this week and see how she handles speeds and corners but so far its all been good with daily driving and cruising for SEDfest.

no idea if it's legal don't think it's all that low compared to some cars.... still reckon it needs to go lower and I'm working getting it there too.

Sounds awesome mate.... SSman's done a similar thing with just the rear muffle changed and it sounds amazing, use to love the sound of my car stock now it's very underwhelming

Did you find a replacement momo arrow or repair the damaged one? Also, how much guard clearance at the rear now without the spacers?

                Cheers

                • nah it was repairable in the end, so didn't need to find one... though saw my second set ever on Brent colour concept.

probably 10-16mm clearance from the fenders on 17x8 +35 and the rears tuck by 10-15mm

Can you let me know what you think of the headlight globes as I've been thinking of getting these as well.

                      Will do.

At this point, I've read that Philips makes some quality items and these appeared to be the best life/brightness/quality/cost trade-off I could find of the Philips range (I paid ~$50 delivered from an Aus vendor on ebay).

I'll report back on them once they are fitted, but they are certainly better value for money than the horribly overpriced OEM bulbs (even if they have pretty little VW logos on them)

                      • Philips make good bulbs, the high colour temp ones can get expensive.

Definately worth changing low and hi beams to 4000 colour temp globes, the stock ones are very weak and yellow.

Higher than 4000 or 4300 light temp is illegal unless HID from memory (atleast in NSW).

He got back from holidays the other day, and was so happy with his car he gave me a 1L bottle of OP Bundy rum. I was very pleased, but will have to clean his car a few more times to make up for the present.
