What did you do to your Polo today?

The noise will never be that loud I found. I played with it on a number of settings, but I was happy with the ability to set the tension of the spring.
I have gone to the Forge 007 DV now, and have found that it is almost as loud as the splitter, even though it is completely plumb back.

what made you ditch the splitter valve for a dv?

any more thoughts you could give on settings & a lamens explanation of how the tension of the spring effects/works would be very much appreciated!

I went for the 007 DV as I wanted something new, and I was kind of over the BOV...Its just me.

Anyway, playing with the ratchet tensioner on the BOV adjusts the strength of the spring in the body, and this regulates how much boost it will hold before releasing. The tighter you have it, the higher pressure it will take for the waste air to overcome the tension behind the piston in the BOV.

Polo boost is pretty mild and has to have a plumb-back portion of the boost so as not to mess with the computer mapping.

Its not going to be a Skyline Blowoff, but if its more for your own sense of fun, you can find a way to remove some of the sound proofing so you can hear more of it.

I know this sounds strange, but from memory the new Golfs have a speaker in the car that sounds like the engine becuase the engine noise was too low in the vehicle!

What other mods are you running? Other mods will change the sound of the BOV (eg chip, pod filter, dump pipe)

As I recommended to somone else on this forum. Pop your bonnet but leave the safety catch on and drive down the street. If it sound heaps louder then its all the sound proofing on the inside of the bonnet. Remove that and it will be louder.

When doing this its very important not to drive too fast as there is always a risk the safety catch will fail and the wind will lift the bonnet onto your windscreen. If you dont notice any difference in sound when shifting from first to second then there is probably no point going faster to try in between other gear changes.

I found this out by mistake when I didnt close my bonnet properly the day before. At first I thought something was wrong with the car cause the BOV was that much louder.

As my suspension is not going in yet, I thought I'd have a crack at installing the front strut brace.

Got back tonight from Bathurst after camping on top of the mountain and watching the v8s. The Polo did just over 2000km since last Wednesday and didn't skip a beat (this included a trip to Sydney and back on Thursday night as three of the guys went to the Slayer concert, the other two of us stayed at camp). 7.5lt/100km for the entire trip.
