Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

BBS wheels on. This is on Eibach Pro-kit springs which I'm happy with, still need to be able to get into steep driveways without scraping.

      • Today I did the whole SAI system delete. It was fairly straight forward except for removing the combi valve and installing the blanking plate. Access is tight. Lost a fair bit of coolant so I will need to get some more tomorrow.

Also replaced the coolant temp sensor at the same time as it hasn't been working for some time.

Nice. I’m planning to do that next weekend. So no CEL yet?

Haven't started it up as i need more coolant/distilled water.

Plus I've had the SAI CEL for years since mine stopped working a long time ago.

Very sensible! I really like this wheel, suspension height combo.

Thanks, yeah it's got to be able to be used on a daily basis. Slammed on coilovers may look good, but not really useful for daily driving.

Already have a H&R rear bar fitted. Front H&R bar arrived today and that's going in soon with an FMIC, DRL headlights and honeycomb lower grill.

                    • FYI for anyone doing the SAI delete... a 2L milk bottle cap fits perfectly over the hole in the airbox.

                      • A beer bottle lid fits inside pretty well too. Bit of silicone, bobs your uncle.

                        • First Wakefield day with the apr stage 1 and coilovers. Managed to knock a couple of seconds of my previous PB, and there is still a bit in it I reckon.

                          • If you give the date of the track day (preferably in the Polo Performance thread), then I can add you to the rankings there.

                            • Tried to install a oversize TIP on the weekend... couldn't get it to fit in place. I had the coolant pipes loose and the 3 bolts for the gearbox cable guide out but still wouldn't fit in place. Also trimmed some off the turbo side of the pipe to help. Beyond my DIY skills.

that is a big fat sucker.... and like the one I installed recently it looks about 2" too short. I cut mine in half and extended it with a bit of metal pipe
