Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Fitted an N75J I picked up this morning. Promptly jumped on the dyno and made a stately 103.9kw.
Left the dyno day feeling properly dejected. Got home and did a little reading to find out they're meant to be installed backwards to how the stock one sits.
Now have constant and addictive boost and much smoother delivery.
    What a muppet haha

Learning the hard way is what its all about, know you know, next time you'll have that little light come on in the back of your mind.
Shame you didn't get to dyno it above the 5psi.

Did a very similar thing a few years back at a dyno day. Dyno'd my subaru and wondered why it made 110kwat. Scrathed my head, than realised as I had dual stage boost controller it was running low boost at 7psi, back on the dyno, flicked the switch 14psi and ~145kwat or whatever it made. That's more like it, haha.

Got some nice boost pipes and t-bolt clamps to replace the stock one, after that awkward incident happened last month

            Relocated the ProVent
Mounting on the oil filter housing with some metal strapping
To free up the space which it originally take on the path of the stock intake hose(mounted on the battery tray)
Oh and upgraded the intake hose to the PD160 one

Made a cone in box using the K&N Apollo filter with some aluminium sheet from bunnings
Didn't have any 90 degree elbow handy, so used a section of a flexi pipe
Nice to have all the bolts around the filter, makes mounting stuff easier
            Acceleration seems more responsive

Maybe I should get this colour coded?

It looks like you're missing a clamp on the top of the down section of the IC piping, or is butted in there a looong way?

There is a clip connector molded to that stock 90 degree bend
No clamps needed, simply push in
I'll need an adapter to change that bend to a reinforced one

                  • Bought my mistress a few xmas presents

                    Pd160
                    Seatsport fmic with bracket kit
                    Forge intercooler pipe
                    Forge 008 dv
                    Ecs magnetic sump plug

Coupled with the vibratechnics mounts that I already have, and the intercooler piping that I got from h100vw earlier this year, I think that I may have a busy weekend coming up.
