  • Over the past month I have done a SEAT Intake, had the 30K Service done and had the Turbo to Intercooler pipe replaced under Warranty. Also, on Thursday had Gavin come round and do the Custom Code reflash. Also currently waiting for delivery of a BMC Air Filter.

The power increase with the reflash in awesome, but did cause one hiccup. The new intercooler pipe was held together by spring clamps, and the extra boost generated by the reflash caused the pipe to blow off. Although it was an easy fix, I didn't have the tools at home (need to address this issue). VW Assist wanted to tow my car as the intercooler hose was 'Major Repairs', so got RAA round by describing it as a radiator hose over the phone. The technician that came out took 10mins out of the 15mins to determine that is wasn't a radiator hose, then concluded that everything should be ok. I am now considering replacing all spring clamps with standard hose clamps. Was a good start to the easter weekend.

I paid about $90 in Darwin, but that was last year. Fitting will tale about 2 min...All you need is a phillips head screw driver.

        • Think I paid $95 a couple of years ago ... with change in exchange rate ... probably about the same.

Another one for the 'Dark Side'.

If I get chance I'll drop that spring clamp tool in, on my way home tomorrow night. I'll leave it with you until next week if you like.

Get the clamps changed and we'll look at tweaking it a bit.

                      • ok, cheers Gavin. I plan on looking into this on the weekend and possibly replacing them. Hopefully I'll have my BMC filter by then also.
Will be good once I've replaced the clamps, can then give the car a proper run.

                              • actually, not for today, but for yesterday.

spent 3 hours cleaning inside, washing, then waxing and buffing my car by hand. during the day. and i work nights. so i was rooted afterwards.

and then it rained like 4 hrs later

thats okay- my best record is 13 washes in a row, with it raining within 24 hrs of me having washed. and no, i dont look for dark clouds before deciding to wash- i only wash when it looks like it will be clear that day.
