  • 20kw boost for using a momo steering wheel.
Now you just need a hole saw to cut some circles out of the steering wheel spokes and get even more weight out of it.

Will be interested to hear how the whiteline ARB goes once we do a happy laps stint.

    • It's a def improvement on the road. Might go to stiff this arvo, to see what it's like at the airport round about, the definitive test

      • Not sure that wheel looks at home in the polo, but I do recall the feeling of those wheels, very nice.

Any update on the coilovers? Are they a go?

It's tattty Sean, like the rest of the car . If it were a Porsche they'd call it patina I had forgotten how good it feels, nearly 10 years since I last had it on a car.

I have left them alone on the coilovers, although come thursday, I'll probably crack and call them.

          • How did you deal with the airbag when you changed to that steering wheel?

Fronts were shot really but the backs still had some life in them. So being tight I cleaned them up and cleaned off the rust on the edge.

what I found in the yard was a rear beam from a V5 Bora. Sometime later the calipers and brackets were in the boot and Matt was the proud owner of a K03s.

The turbo is now fitted in a mk4 Golf that came in with a dead wastegate. So Matt still wants another for his Scirocco.

                  Some pictures to come shortly.

                  Calipers get wrinkly

                  And behind the wheel.
Did the tears on mine today. Well, at least I tried..

Gav, any reason the caliper carrier would foul on the outer edge of the rotor? I've had to file a fair bit of metal off the inside of the carrier to make it all fit. Not ideal!

Did you use caliper carriers from a 4-motion vehicle?

                    • Yes, and I've added 6mm of spacing to suit.

Using the caliper bracket off the donor vehicle as well Stuwey? You need the pair.

Bought the lot 'as removed' from a Bora, so I can only presume so.

Something isn't right and the bracket would be the most likely problem. Although it could be the disc too I guess.

                            You got the 4mo/S3/TT disc?

                            • I remember having some fun with the 4mo and spacers on the rear, think I had to get the proper carriers.

                              • So not much going on, waiting for the coilover people. Hopefully in time for Happy Laps.

I had used the S3 for work a few shifts, Squib sat in the garage with no petrol.

Took him out yesterday for a refill of Costcos finest. Got in from work at 2AM and 10 minutes later, he got me up with the alarm blaring. Running around in the flashing orange with my laptop and VCDS to see what the go was. The remote locked and unlocked the car but wouldn't kill the siren.

Eventually, it stopped but I wasn't sure so I locked the drivers door from inside and then the passenger door with the button.

Silence for the rest of the night.

Pulled the siren out this morning, batteries leaked all over the board. Cleaned them up but couldn't power it off my bench supply, so it looks like a newie is on the cards.

They seem a bit pricey for what they are. So I might see if any of the alarm gear I brought over from the UK will do the job. I can wire it inside the car then, for max ear damage
