Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

"rat-development-chic" Magnus Walker calls this patina......
Softer springs have made a big difference at the back. Much better ride now, even with race adjusted damping, it's streets ahead of the H&Rs and std shocks.
Possibly a softer front would be good for street only use.

Not been much doing on the Squib front of late.
Bought a pile of LEDs from the UK and he now has LED number plate lights.
I just refitted the stiff "race" springs for HL this weekend coming. I had previously back the damping off 2 clicks all around. The ride on the highway and in general is pretty good. Obviously, "good" isn't the word most would use. Compared to the S3 on KWs, it's very solid.
I had planned to get a new set of tyres for HL as well. I will get them afterwards now though.
I have decided it'll be the new RE003s. With the 4 for 3 deal making them $100 less than I paid for the current RE002s. Which incidentally have actually run 40000km, they have been fantastic in the grand scheme of things. If anything a little too long lasting as the rubber went off around Christmas time. In the the damp they are now a bit lacking.

At Bridgestone getting new tyres. RE003, seeing as the RE002 have been so good and the 4 for 3 deal going on. Excited!
Went with the 205/50 16, fills the arches heaps. Pleased with the look and the price, $567 for 4. I'll be re-assessing my speedo readings against GPS in an attempt to stay close to the limit.........
Also, I got some suede material to attend to the curtains in the back of the S3. The A pillar covers in the Squib have been ****ty looking since getting him. The tweeters were changed during a stereo install and I inherited some holes.
So I practiced on them. When I think, I'll take some installed shots but I am pleased with how they turned out.

Gav,
Progress report on the RE003's now that you've no doubt taken the slippery sheen off them? Any loss of steering feel relative to RE002's by going to the higher profile?
One thing I'm curious about now that a few guys have gone to 50 profile on 16's - is the ESP any more or less intrusive on take off or if the car is thrown about?

I don't think it cuts boost in our cars, or at least not primarily. I've been running manual boost control for a while now and can't distinguish any difference to how the ESP works now versus when the N75 was doing the job. My guess is either a combination of or a cascading order of (depending on how full on the situation is) the N249 pulling open the DV (if its still connected), throttle cut and ignition cut. You could probably watch those outputs with VCDS to be sure.
My car has real difficulty at a particular roundabout where you run up to a crest and then through the roundabout which is at the top. The unweighting of the car with steering inputs going on at the same time and the foot moving back towards the floor makes it throw a wobbly as though a kill switch has been thrown.
anyone know how the TC works - is it just brake force modulated?

Might have to run an experiment in the next day or so.

Hi Guys
Gav,
Sounds very similar to what I was experiencing.I have now had 3 opportunities to replicate loss of boost when hitting that particular corner with ESP off,WOT, as you suggested ,and she just boosts up and powers on.I think you said it may have had something to do with a sensor on over tilt of car YAWL??? sensor. That and the worn cam follower new plugs and she is running like brand new,Thanks for the advise you where spot on
Cheers
