Did you pull the whole thermostat housing off or just the coolant hose which covers the lower bolt? I used your how to as a guide and had no troubles.

I've been running without the SAI/249 almost 2 weeks now with no dash lights. I also got the resistors that Anthony used from Integrated Engineering which look nice and OEM as a plus. That said I have no logging software/scanner so can't check anything other than whether it throws a CEL or not.

Hi Leitch, I am trying to locate the resisters from "Integrated Engineering " , as you mentioned...believe it or not , I cannot find it on the net...do you have a URL where I can buy these resistors -- will save me wasting time searching ???

          Search results for: 'Resistor'

You need two oval type resistors (for the 249 and 112), and the bare straight resistor for the larger SAI plug (you'll need to wire/solder some 2.5mm plugs to the straight resistor).

You can get the combi blanking plate from them too.

Also all the above information I credit to Anthony.

If you are getting a set of the resistors and plugs, can you let me know the cost and grab a set for me as well?
As the Polo ages I don't like the idea of all the Vac crap causing power loss.

Apologies Noone, I would of with pleasure, but did it last night so that it's done.....it was 15$ for 1 plug and 6$ for resistor....

                      No worries.
I had a look at the freight, looked pretty excessive, thought it could be shared.

It cost me ~$100 for the three resistors and the blanking plate including shipping. Shipping was about $35. Not cheap but shipping never is from the US - at least it was better than the $60 I paid to ship an n75 from ECS.. Mind you they put it in a massive box for some unknown reason.

Hi mate you need 4 resistors, 2 for the delete and 2 for the SAI pump. So you are one short mate.If you use one you will eventually get a Sai code. Secondly not sure how you can lose al that coolant, if you have released the pressure from the system and then refit the coolant cap all you need to do is clamp the rubber hose and the loss is minimum, ive never lost anymore than than 50ml
                          Cheers

Just looking at this delete and wondering - why not just take the combi valve off, blank the hole and leave the tower it sits on in place? This wouldn't look nas neat, but would avoid having to remove the coolant pipe and lose fluid. Any reason it wouldn't work?

                            Any comment leitch, Jmac, noone??

                            Cheers

It would be easier. If I do it again, thats what I will do for a while, just to make sure it does not throw codes. You'd have to clamp of the vac line too, most of us are trying to remove junk from the engine bay, so a good reason to go to the extra effort (in the long term).

Jmac, I didn't clamp anything, that would be why I lost a lot of fluid. Not experienced like you my friend.

Interesting about the resistors - where's the fourth supposed to go? Two for the stuff up top, the bigger straight resistor for the wiring that plugs into the SAI pump under the inlet manifold, and where else? As I said I was following Anthony and Noone's write ups, and neither mention a fourth resistor.. I could have missed something, though, I can be a bit hasty like that at times.

Hastiness is also most likely why I lost more coolant, though it was less than others have reported.
