    • I love how 1st gear takes me to 60 just like that!

I love the mist of air fragrance I get when the wipers are activated. (anyone know how this works & where the fragrance comes from? - i'm yet to find it in the manual, which i'm about half way through).

      I love the leather-bound manual!

I love the smart features; the air recirculator auto-activation when reversing to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the cabin.

I love the clever use of storage compartments in a small car.

I love the interior dash lighting at night. Even the bright red ring around the 12v socket looks very nice.

I love the cargo-net for holding down the shopping & allowing me to let rip around bends on the way home from the shops!

I love how the upper dash compartment houses my e-tag & stops it from sliding around when turning, & how it prevents me from attaching the e-tag to my windscreen.

I love how my spring-loaded glasses case sits on the shelf to the right of my steering wheel & can be opened with the touch of its button, allowing easy access to my glasses.

I love how I know i've forgotten many more things to love & that i'll need to come back to this thread to update.

I guess that's something they've added to the 09 version.

Nah, the glasses case I was referring to is the actual case my spectacles came with when I bought them about a month ago....nothing to do with the car.

I just love how access to my glasses are within easy reach of one hand, as the case simply remains in position on that shelf to the right of the steering wheel & allows me to open it at the press of its button, presenting the glasses, as if it was a built-in compartment specifically made for them.

WHAT?? Does anyone know anything more about this. I don't think mine does this. Maybe just on later models?? Or is it just the smell from the concentrate in the washer fluid seeping into the cabin??

It's just the smell of the windscreen wiper solution coming through the air vents.

It does smell nice though. In fact, when I ran out, I bought a refill bottle from the service centre. I'll be damned if I'm going back to plain water.

                  • I just went to take the rubbish out & couldn't help stay in the garage for that little bit longer, admiring my Polo, whos new car odour still makes the whole garage smell that bit better, one week later.

Y2008, is that a new Avatar? It's the corner of the car I was hoping to take for a future avatar of mine. Nice one, early bird.

                      • I love the idea of VW encouraging us to use the boosting potential of this car by including that tap-feature for the indicators which flashes them 3 times.

Not sure if I love the feature yet, because I feel like i'm cutting people off when using it. Just gotto adjust & time it right. I reckon if it flashed 4 times, it'd be perfect. Wonder if we can re-program it?

                            • If you move the indicator stalk in a direction, but not far enough to make it latch, the indicator will still flash 3 times.

                              Great for cutting through traffic.

                              • when don't I love my Polo GTI

Hello everyone, New here and I am having a great time..

My first experience with VW dates back to high school in the states I had a 78 Rabbit, stock it was and the color... Well it was like a pastel green, but could it race, the streets and blocks where I lived always a tire squealing and the old girl usually won,....that was one fun car.....

Now 31 yrs on and I am feeling 17/18 again. I spotted this car on a small lot in the back of the lot in Melbourne and the rest is history, How lucky was I to find this Beauty. If only they made this car back then I would have never lost. So my history would be a long lost love afare with the VW Rabbit/Polo and I will never abandon VW again. (Teary)

Thanks for listening to my story and always remember......Your car will only be as good as you make it and with life being so short spend as much as you can to make it a good as you can......

                                Enjoy and be safe. ssman
