that's the one i have, but you will need to either:Originally posted by xc17ed View PostIs this the correct adapter for an 06 Polo GTi?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT
1: cut the iso plug off (the two small plugs) and connect it to your headunit's harness.
2: buy a ISO to Sony/Pioneer or (other brand) harness (which means you don't have to use the original harness from Sony/Pioneer etc...) and this is the approach i went with. (about $20), no cutting, pretty much cut and play.Black|APR Tuned|APR Dogbone|SEAT Intake|BMC Airfilter|Forge TIP|SEATSports Front Strutbrace|Forge Rear Strutbrace|Whiteline RSB|Bilstein B8 & H&R Springs

cutting off and joining shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as the factory loom doesn't have to be cut. Now I'm willing to give the can connector a miss and hard wire the acc of the ant wire. That just leaves me needing an antenna converter for the moment correct? Once the hu is fitted I'll need a stereo facia as well to suit? I'm thinking either the pioneer with nav most of you have or a more basic clarion dbl din DVD model.Originally posted by ef9 View Postthat's the one i have, but you will need to either:

you are right, cutting and joining is not hard at all.Originally posted by xc17ed View Postcutting off and joining shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as the factory loom doesn't have to be cut. Re: antenna converter, that's what you need, i got the one with no amplifier, and it's working fine for me.
Re: facia for double din; no comment, as i have a single din HU, and no facia.Last edited by ef9; 26-01-2010, 10:55 PM.Black|APR Tuned|APR Dogbone|SEAT Intake|BMC Airfilter|Forge TIP|SEATSports Front Strutbrace|Forge Rear Strutbrace|Whiteline RSB|Bilstein B8 & H&R Springs

This is the fascia kit I used with my AVIC F900BT.Originally posted by xc17ed View Postcutting off and joining shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as the factory loom doesn't have to be cut. Fits nicely, I trimmed the front panel so it fit more flush.
I used this powered aerial adapter too.

I used that power aerial adapter too but now have shocking AM reception where it used to be crystal clear.
I'm thinking I've hooked it up wrong.
Where is the little blue cable supposed to go?Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting

It goes to the antenna power output on your head unit. Should be able to hook it up to any switched 12v source anyway.Originally posted by danish View PostI used that power aerial adapter too but now have shocking AM reception where it used to be crystal clear.

Good point that I hadn't noticed.
Sent seller a question regarding that.
Tough decision as I already have a single din Pioneer DVD from the previous car, or to sell that and get a double DIN... hmmm.2007 MY08 VW Golf MKV R32 Blue 6M 3-Door

Hey, dont get the single din fascia kit above, i got it, and it doesn't fit, i ended up using just the pocket. the seller only recommended me the double din one. then i saw the single din one thought it would be the same, but found out the hard wayOriginally posted by xc17ed View PostMany people had experience with these?

I fitted the single din HU with the metal bracket from pioneer, and a pocket, which comes with the fasia kit that i got from ebay that didn't fit. i believe you can get the pocket from JB hifi for $15-$20. the pocket moves abit, and it does not look factory, but im happy with it for now.Originally posted by xc17ed View PostGood point that I hadn't noticed.

Power cable - through kick panel, front guard, into engine bay
Ran my power cable for the sound system yesterday.
Here are some pics:
Remove left (passager side) kick panel (unscrew/remove the tray under the glove box, as it block the top part of the kick panel)

you will find a rubber cover, access to the left front guard, near the door hinge

jack up the car, remove the front left wheel, remove the screws that lock the plastic guard under the front guard (i only remove 12 screws, from right to left, and left the screws under the bumper, i had enough room to work with)

remove the rubber guard/cover behind the guard, (only one screw), you will gain access to the door hinge from there.

remove the rubber cover you saw from the 2nd pic. you can easily push it out, from inside the car. poke a hold, then push the power cable through it.

Then feed the cable through from inside the carbin.

Dont put the rubber cover back in place until you have the right length, feed the cable through to the hole in the front guard into the engine bay, it comes out next to the water bottle and battery.

all done. you should be able to figure out the rest, i didn't have to remove the rear trim, just pushed it through the gap and you will see it under the back seat, sorry didn't take a pic of that. if you are upgrading the rear speakers, you will have to remove the rear trim anyway. hope this helps. cheers, Kevin.Black|APR Tuned|APR Dogbone|SEAT Intake|BMC Airfilter|Forge TIP|SEATSports Front Strutbrace|Forge Rear Strutbrace|Whiteline RSB|Bilstein B8 & H&R Springs
