It was from a 2 cycle Detroit Diesel V8. I think it was in a american WW2 truck.

    • Here we go!

The Phantom Grip is in place. It is not plug'n'play how I had thougt.

I had to clear some space, machining the gears and that little hat.

The 02R is almost the same 02J or 02A, it is just more evolved.

              You mean damaged?

All the gears and syncros are perfect, like new! The car has 17000km.

I was hoping to find a damaged syncro in the 4th gear, because with fast shifts from 3th to the 4th, it was “scratching". But everything is ok.

                • hmm dont suppose you measued for which size your ring gear was by chance did you?

ive now leveled it down to a 02j dif, i understand polo's came in 2 differant ring gear sizing.112mm and 114mm if i remember correctly, or was it 113mm and 114mm. hmm i guess if i was to order a dif and order multiple ring gear sizes. i cant go wrong . cheers, nice pics btw.

                  • Some days ago I complain about a weird vibration, just after I had changed the dog bone bushing... I found the source! Almost open a hole in my fuel tank!

                    • Now about the LWFW!

                      WOW!

It is a very interesting upgrade... The engine's revolutions are much more faster, the reaction is very impressive.

The car is flowing more at hi rpms.

                      But...

To put the car in movement when you are stopped in a climb... Lift the revs at 4000rpm and burn the clutch, or the engine dies.

                      Very interesting.

                      • ok awsome, dif sorted. aparently you can tell ring gear sizing from trasmission codes. funny enough , theres not a real big differance from a 02r box and a 02j, so im informed.

jesus you were luck that bolt didnt perce your tank!

The worst part is to put the car in movement if you stop on a hill.

The diff is helping in the turn exits, but I don't have a full opinion yet. This weekend I will try to go to the track and see if it is really working.
