  • The Frozen boost site is a good 1 stop shop site, with online calculator have total cost for unit as AUD$346 landed (for single unit shipped to Sydney).

I think I'll get one and work it out from there, would love to get Sharkie's man to make the kit, but if there is not the interest, I'm not waiting until it gets hot, then waiting another month whilst people get around to it...

    Appreciate your help Sharkie...

    • Hey guys I'm still dead keen so if we're doing a group buy please PM me so we can arrange!

      • Ok. I have had my intercooler tested and it does in fact leak under pressure. The guy was going to have a look at it and see if it is an easy (say less than $50.00) fix. I will know in a couple of days. So I am definitely still interested.

Just a quick question. Does it definitely have to be 5 people? Surely 4 people only say wouldn't make that much difference.

        • Ok, one last haul...

i'm chasing a crew in South America who make a kit for another core...

Looking into it now, hard to find info... its a Flowtech...

Few guys in SA have them, a few basic comments about them on the VWGTI forum in SA, info here

I'll keep you all in the loop if its <$1000 landed for a few.

obviously some photos and info will be required...

          • come on guys a few of us, myself and sharkie included have done kits already for if not under 1k pretty damn close to it with proven results why dont u just go through the guys sharkie use and get it done already? Also have a mechanic in brisbane who knows exactly what pipes need to be made up etc so could be shipped like that. I dont know why you guys are trying to reinvent the wheel on this when the current options are proven with various budgets already covered.

            • Jasn, few issues mate, I wish it were that easy...
              - someone needs to supply the car in Brisbane
              - I'm not in Brisbane
              - We don't seem to be able to reliably get 5 parties interested for bulk order of cores and group fabrication.

Biggest issue is confirming numbers. Sufficient numbers seem keen, but then.... Nothing

If you can hook me up with someone who can make the complete kit (if its not complete, whats the point) that will definitely bolt straight on, then I'm in.

As everyone who has discussed making up a kit requires a loan car for measuring, I may as well get the core myself and work it out locally.

As I said, before I go down the solo path, i'm trying another option I only came across today...

              Any help appreciated...

              • I think what Jason is saying is if you can get 5 people together then you can place a minimum order for the cores.

Then what he is saying is the kits made up of piping, joints clamps etc. have already been made up in Brisbane and can be shipped anywhere. (no car needed to be in Brisbane)

The above mentioned kits including core and piping kits are tried and proven.

Please note that most cores require cutting of the front bar so you will not be able to intall unless youre ace with power tools so technically not a direct bolton.

Exactly, we need 5 to be able to order the cores in. Supplier normally only supplies in batches of 10 but will do 5 as a favour. Need to pay up front for the cores so there is no question of bringing 5 in and then only getting 5 takers.

Jason and I use the same mech to do the work. He will need a car as a template to fit on. Jason uses a different core so piping slightly different. At least 4 Polos running with my core in Brisbane already but the mech does a lot of Euro work so cannot be expected to remember exactly how to do a Polo kit without a template car present. Can then make all 5 kits in 1 go.

Biggest problem is 5 confirmed takers for the cores ....... piping etc is easy.

                  • I am very close to committing. I will be talking to my mechanic friend in the next day or so. I may be able to supply a car for a day. Does he really need to have the car for a couple of days?

Im very interested sharkie, where would pricing be 800-900-1000?

I was looking at getting custom work in perth for this core a while back, but this seems like it would be much easier for me.

thanks anthony thats exactly what i meant, also as sharkie said you would probably need some1's for a template but i would say if you guys where to make an offer to some1 with the same core for their time and car for the mechanic they may do that. (btw thats not me cause as sharkie said mine is slightly different) read better lmao

The place I use in Adelaide made and fitted the FMIC to my A3 in a day. You have to give the guys a chance, in case something crops up they have to think about.

Most shops would do the job in a day though I think.

                          • thanks for the clarification gents, must admit, trying to push this through has given me a greater appreciation for the work involved in what it takes to distribute small shipments. Painful.

So the revised list of interested people seems like:
                            Noone (yes me)
                            Break
                            Club Racer
                            Bora Sport
                            Keil

previously expressing interest, but not commenting since, are:
Steve88, Desmo, Sean GTI, Joe Chu, Insane Kiwi, Morbo2000

To get this going, we need 5 committed people and deposits (I'd say $100?). If we don't get 5 going by next Wednesday, I'll go do my own thing.

I'm in, will put in deposit, can the rest of you commit to this with the information available?

                            Comment

                            • I'm very interested but really need to have a clear idea what the pricing is going to be and expected timeframe as money is a bit tight at the moment (new ute bought with mates, which needed some work done on it and a gas conversion. which will be used to tow our boat which currently has it's engine in pieces. and we're going to bathurst next week for the v8's which involves more money spent including a significant amount on beer).

So i'd be able to do a deposit of $100, but i'm in no deperate hurry for the kit to arrive as i need to build funds back up again first before i can pay for the whole thing.

                              • morbo2000 makes a good point.

Just to clarify. This is a FMIC kit with the intercooler pictured earlier in this thread complete and fitted for $1,000?

I will be seeing my mechanic mate tomorrow. So I will be definitely in or out by Monday. If I am in, the deposit is no trouble before next Wednesday.
