  • Had a response from Flowtech in South Africa:
    -------------------------------------------------
    Hi

Apologies for the late reply - We were busy with production.

I would love to help with regards to the FMIC kit.

We have a kit for the Pgti which is made up locally here in SA. Should we need to Ship these overseas as in your case we would need a minimum order of 5 kits.

We will also Provide out kits with High Polished piping etc to work and looks gr8.
    ------------------------------------------------

I've provided some info on what we are looking for and asked for photos and more detailed pricing.

Will update when I have more info.

Count me in (don't forget me!!)

I am happy to provide a template car in Brisvegas. This will need to happen in the next week or two otherwise I will pull the plug and go for a forge kit.

        • Any more details on the Flowtech kits? I'm most interested in their ability to cool and their ability to be fitted without any structual modifications.

          • I'll retract my interest in this one, spending the coin on home renovations.

Is it sad that I prioritise a new kitchen before modding the car....

            • No info yet, Flowtech have used the Forge kits and speak highly of them. They've suggested they make up a similar kit which I've asked for info and pricing on.

As this is a small outfit, I don't expect a lot of backing info, I've asked for some dyno details, or something relevant to aid photos, etc.

I don't know if these are going to be any cheaper than the frozen boost with custom kit and the quality is unknown at this stage...

The tricky question is, How many people are in? Quite a few have expressed interest, but I don't have any more information than what is in this thread. Exact costs? I don't think we have them and Sharkie isn't interested in working with us if we can't commit to 5 of these... The South Africa ones I can't see being much cheaper and we don't yet have any supporting documentation on them like we have for Sharkies method.

So... Are people willing to Commit (Assuming the Frozen boost option) - (Bora Sport, Keil, Morbo, GTI Monkey, break)?
If you need more info, please dig it up. I'm pushing this, but I only know what's already posted here.

              • I'm in aslong as either kit comes in under 1000 delivered and everything (not including installation)

                • The kits from South Africa are going to be expensive to ship.

Works out to be about same cost as Forge.

He's looking into alternative shipping options, but I'm not holding my breath...

                  • Any news Noone?

Tax return will be burning holes through my pockets soon plus had a 26 degree day here in perth and it killed the powaaahhhh.

                    • Nah mate, waiting to work out my damaged suspension before I commit to more...

Honestly, I'd be getting the Frozen boost unit direct and work it out locally. Trying to secure numbers and works is just not happening...

                      • wouldn't it be easier to do another FORGE FMIC group buy? dollars up high should make it cheaper than last time wasn't it just over a grand?

I am definitely going to fit a FMIC in the next few weeks.

I have been thinking of the FORGE option. It looks more reasonable by the day with the exchange rate.

I have to say that I have been very tempted by some the deals on new Golf GTI's

you're tempted to buy a new Golf GTI and you are worrying about the price of a FMIC

With current exchange, the unit retails at $910 aus.

I've emailed Forge based on 5 takers, but depends if they are willing to work with separate payments / distribution.

Its all about how low they can go, my coilovers cost me over $200 to freight and that was very competitive compared to other companies. If they are willing to discount the coolers and do the freight close to cost, we could be in!
