Is there any way i can do so i can use sleep mode and it will wake up when i start the car? Thanks guys im bit stress about this little device
I've had a good read of this thread, as a new VW owner/lover/never turning back, also being technologically illiterate, I'm liking what I'm reading about ditching the Touch Adapter so far, but am having trouble understanding it fully.
Currently I have an RCD310 in my 77tsi Polo (MY13.5) with a Bluetooth Touch Adapter (Yeah that ugly piece of trash that can't understand my voice).
I am aiming to upgrade to an RCD510 for better iPod functionality (layout etc.) and ditching the Touch Adapter for a Bury system 9 dock only to charge, be docked and look pretty. I still want to be able to make and receive calls via. Bluetooth (I don't care if I have to manually dial or answer from my phone because it will be docked!) I don't care about streaming bluetooth music, because I'll have my iPod connected to the RCD510.
I need someone to give me a hand understanding it fully and telling me what exactly I need to do (sorry I haven't pieced together everything from this thread) and maybe guide me to someone who can help me out with any fidgity parts!
Cheers,
Luke.

Hi Luke
I just replace the stupid touch adaptor with a bury system 9 dock. I have RCD510 which I connect via Bluetooth to my phone - phone calls etc via rcd510 etc... And using the steering controls.. Also access to speed dials, phone book, recent call logs via RCD510.
If going to bury system 9 - you need to use VCDS to code the touch adaptor out... There is the step by step in this thread... Just don't do step two if you still want Bluetooth audio...
I bought the universal one by the way - bought mine from personal.digital.com.au with a 30 pins connector cable for $110 delivered.
You can buy OEM VW phone specific cradle which is plug and play but they r expensive...
Phone is still using Bluetooth to make the connection with RCD510 for either cradle

Make sure you get the LATEST model RCD510.
You will also need to recode the cars computer (VCDS Recode) so that the steering controls and display work correctly.
Whoever you get to do this will also need to recode the Bluetooth per the start of this thread.

This is the unit that I will be buying on Saturday.
LukePolo, I've got the same model car as you and I've done exactly what you want to do as well. I firstly upgraded to the RCD510 and it will not require any VCDS work provided your unit is the right spec to begin with... mine came straight out of a brand new Amarok and was ready to go. No VCDS was required as the steering wheels controls were already enabled. On the Comfortlines nothing is displayed on the MFD from the unit, so there is no coding in that regard either. However, the next step in disabling the Bluetooth touch adapter, will need VCDS tweaking and is as per previously stated in this thread.

I ended up buying the RCD unit I posted earlier, the guy I bought it off did the VCDS coding for me to ditch the touch adapter.
Today in the mail the Bury system 9 iPhone 5 dock arrived, all works perfectly!
Anyone with a Samsung Note 1/2/3 found a mount for their phone? I will be upgrading from my iphone 4s to a Note 3, turns out it wont fit into the Bury XL universal mount.
Hi guys, can I pair my phone to the RCD510 directly and leave the touch adaptor in?so I just use the Bluetooth function from the RCD510 and ignore the touch adaptor?
On your phone, make sure you have unpaired the Touch Adaptor. Pair using either your phone's Bluetooth search or MFD (Bluetooth -> Users -> "search" or something like that) to the 9w7/unit under the seat (aka VW PHONE) which is linked to the RCD510.
From there everytime that you have your phone's bluetooth on before you start the car, it should automatically connect to your 9w7.
If it doesn't connect automatically, you can manually connect using the MFD by:
Using the left/right buttons on the steering wheel switch to the Bluetooth menu
-> Scroll to "bluetooth"
-> then "Users"
-> then choose phone.
