Tracking Progress on your Polo and Polo GTI

Just a question with regard to terminology on NADCON

I have a Chassis Number which is populated (17 digits which I assume is what we call the VIN)
I have a Vehicle ID which is populated (10 digits)
I have an engine number field that is not populated

What exactly is the Vehicle ID?

For Finance reasons I am being asked for the engine no.. I was just wondering if even though the engine no. field is empty on NADCON that the Vehicle ID no. is what I need to provide?

Chassis Number = VIN
"Vehicle ID" seems to be an abbreviated VIN/Chassis Number. I'm really not sure what purpose it serves.
Nngine Number field should be filled in once the VIN is. I thought it occurs at Check Point 8 when the VIN appears, but since I can only go by the screenshots for my car and those that others have shared with me, it's possible that maybe it doesn't get populated until once the car has finished construction?

Hey guys, how long after you ordered your cars did you start getting information through NADCOM from your dealers?

I ordered mine on the 18th of February with a deposit. Now its 3 months later and they haven't given me any info still. I've been told to expect early 2012 delivery, and I'm fine with that given I ordered so late compared to everyone else here who is expecting 2011 cars. However not being able to garner any information from the dealer at all is disheartening...

Any ways to go abouts forcing/prying information out of the dealer?

Mate i think it depends on your dealer and the luck they are having with securing build slots...or whatever the correct terminology is. I signed my contract/paid a deposit in early march and i received a NADCON screenshot showing scheduled dates for production last week. All i have done is basically flick the guy i have been dealing with an email asking if he has any updates and he lets me know either way. The NADCON definitely made me feel happier about the progress. Seeing I have ordered after you, it may be the case that your dealer is a bit lower in the pecking order? I don't really know. But I would have thought if i ordered after you, you should at least be at a similar stage.

Corey_R the dot is next to Current SGW Determination (which apparently no-one knows the meaning of). The next step is Allocation of Production Plant which is scheduled for 20/8/2011 followed by Handover to Production also on 20/8/2011.

Dealer is saying that it would be ready for pickup mid July.... haven't trawled through all of these pages yet but does that sound about right?

The frikken wait is killing me!

Hmmm, I'd say more like early to mid august nugget, allow 3 weeks worth of waiting to be loaded on a boat then 6-7 weeks on the seas

Fair enough. mr_bzr's could really be in the same state. Until you get to "Checkpoint 8 Handover to Production", your production date could be anything... Whilst ETA's are populated, they are only that, estimates. Some dealers, quite rightly, won't tell people what the production date is until it has actually been set (Checkpoint 8 ).

OMG... speaking of the devil and the devil talks back... made that post in mild annoyance last night. And today afternoon get a call from my dealer saying he has happy news, I have been allocated a build slot this year... week 37... so that would be ... September? and he says mayb 2 months 2 and a half months after production it would arrive in aus sometime for delivery, so I should be getting it late Nov or early Dec. He also said that its one of the first GTI at his dealership that actually has MY12 changes on it. So I don't actually know if that'll affect me much, might go through that post with all the changes. But Oh man... getting excited now... can finally have something to look forward to.

Big step up from "sometime in 2012" anyway.

Hey Gladiator. Put down the deposit early December 2010 with South Yarra VW.

So yeah, unfortunately, September for you sounds about right. Hopefully early sept though.
