My car got to the dealer today, he said pickup Thursday now
Seriously how long can it take to wash the car and get it registered?
I mean i'm even supplying my own plates.
I said to him to try and get it done by tomorrow arvo but he said it's not likely that it will be done.

lol... I know that they call the "dealer delivery fee" the "$2000 car wash" or whatever, but seriously, if that's all you think it is, you're either misinformed or deluded. There is a pile of things for them to do. The car isn't even properly driveable in the state it's delivered to the dealers (unless they've got some other firm doing their pre-delivery, and then that's another issue )

Yeah it's funny cos it was the dealer was the one who said "it needs to be washed and woken up".
What else do they do apart from take all the plastic off and wash it and program it?

There's a whole buttload of things. I'm not sure if someone has an official list anywhere. But I've seen dealer checklists having around 80 items...
There are all sorts of things, from unwrapping it, to diagnostics, to taking it out of transport mode, to the registration and attaching of labels and plates, to air pressures and spring rubbers, to alignments, test drives, some fuel, the list goes on and on...

Well it looks like I have missed the boat on the 20th and 21st. So much for the dealer telling me it would be on the ship on the 11th. Even worse the next ship has been pushed back 3 days and had 4 days added to its trip. It's looking more like October now for me.......oh the agony

Yeah, when my got to the dealership, it got it's QA (quality assurance) checklist started on the wednesday night that it arrived and the earliest I could pick it up was the friday, expect 1.5-2 days for everything to get sorted out.

We all know what the wait is like but hey, it's definitely worth it!

Hopefully some of you "car tracker gurus" out there can help me with this one.

I just got a NADCON update today from the dealer.

Departure last Port of Transit is still saying 26/7, with Arrival at final destination at 8/9/11.

However under transport information, the location is saying Autoport Emdem, with Bremerhaven as the next waypoint. There is a vessel name, but when I searched it, it only does the Germany/UK run.

There is also nothing on track and trace.........Any suggestions on where my car might be??????

My Polo was on the Boheme and it could only be tracked/traced when it was within a certain distance from each Port it was docking at. I think it's explained in a post on the first page of this thread.
