Wooot! that not bad, only 16hrs to the logistical side of patrick's. Saw plenty of euro cars on car transporters on the way back from Geelong today so looks like the yards have been emptied at the compliance joint
I've got to say today has probably been one of the most exciting of my life - picking up my first brand new car. I got to the dealer bright and early to find my car sitting right out front still being polished and I don't think the smile has left my face since.
Every single choice I made about this car was perfect. The candy white just looks amazing on the GTI, especially with the contrasting red. I wouldn't change a thing about any of the options I got and I'm really happy I ended up going with the 5 door.
After 100kms today, I can say this is one hell of a fun car to drive. I know there is debate over whether it's better to treat the car softly or hard in the run in period but the manual says to be soft with it so I think I'll go with that. That being said I still had some fun and this thing can absolutely fly.. the acceleration is just ridiculous.
I'll provide more thoughts soon and once I've driven it a bit more.
Photo shoot on the weekend I'm thinking. Be patient . Don't want to upload just any old photo.
Hey Payno, thrilled to hear you've got your new car and that you're ahppy with it.
Mine will be available some time next week but with work commitments I really just can't gte there before the weekend. I'm booked in to collect it at 0900Hrs Saurday morning. I'm actually taking my wife with me and am going to let her drive it home from the dealership. This might surprise everyone, but i am very keen for her to feel comfortable driving the car as that was a major factor in me deciding on the Polo versus other options. I think by letting her have the 10 minute drive home she'll be happy, and then once home I can take it out and give it a good workout.
Out of interest, what colour is the display on your climate control aircon? is there any privacy glass or are all windows side and rear just normal glass?
looking fwd to seeing your photos over the weekend , and again congratulations!!!!!
2011 Polo GTI - I have it, I Love It!!!!
Candy White 5 Door, Comfort Pack, Audio Pack - RCD 510, Bi-Xenons, Panoramic Sunroof
Drive it hard when warm, just dont abuse it. Cars that are babied are generally the problem cars.
This has been my general approach. Don't worry, she sure as he'll ain't being babied.
Thanks for the comments everyone... Looking forward to you all getting your cars too. I guarantee you will be as excited as I am when you do.
Frostee.. Pretty sure there's no privacy glass.. All windows are the same, and the climate control has a blue display. I bet Sat can't come quick enough for you now! so the wife gets the 10 min drive home and then she's all yours?
Now... I just need to make it through the day at work without thinking too much about my car...
