Why the Nitto tyres if you don't mind me asking, why not the regular OE tyre being the Dunlop SP SportMax?
No worries Gavs...my aftermarket wheels are 18in, so I chose the Nitto Invos as they are one of only a few tyres that come in 225/35/18 (only 6mm more in diameter than the OEM 215/40/17) where as the Dunlops only come in 225/40/18 which equates to 22mm more overall which is too big. In terms of bang for buck the Nitto Invo tyres are getting rave reviews plus the guys at Taleb tyres really rate them.
Hey all - another new sad person hanging out for their Polo GTI. I currently own a 2009 Holden SV6 ute that I bought as I've been renovating my house. While the ute has been useful, I'm glad it'll soon be going. Prior to the ute, I owned 2 R53 Mini Cooper S's the second of which I waited 9 months to be built/delivered.
Quick question, I was quite lucky that I was able to pick up a cancelled order (I think the person posted on this forum previously). The dealer said that it's scheduled to be built on day 2 (PM) week 22. I'm presuming that it should be built on Tuesday afternoon this coming week. Can anyone tell me when week 22 actually starts production?
It depends which day the "work week" starts. It isn't necessarily a Monday. I'm sure that it's a Sunday actually - but that's only because last year a few people's production dates matched up on Sundays and fell the "build week" before we thought.
Anyway, if it is Sunday, and if Sunday 2nd Jan was the start of "week 1" for 2011, then tomorrow is week 22. Which means Monday is when your car will be "built". Mine you... it takes a few days etc... so what actually happens on "the day" that they mention is something to wonder about (maybe that's when the body meets the engine etc?).
Nice pics payno - finally some decent pics of a 5dr white GTI
Boheme just rounded the Cape of Good Hope and is due into Port Elizabeth tomorrow - on target for a 19/6 arrival into Port Kembla
Can't believe how quickly the time has flown.
Just got my current cars paintwork touched up. Rear bumper and roof resprayed + all over buff and polish for $350. Car looks almost new again... Now for an interior detail and then I can list it for sale
Fingers crossed my car gets out of the Patrick's holding area next week. If it's in the hands of my dealer by Wednesday I'll get it on Wednesday as planned. If not then it will hopefully be the following weekend.
Has anyone hear anything re the strike action at Patrick's and impact on cars that are off the wharf but in the holding area? I have a copy of the Patrick's press release re the strike and althoughnit doesn't mention their holding area it doesn't sat it's unaffected. The release suggests all of Patrick's is impacted, so am not getting my hopes up too much to get my car next weekend.

Don't worry Frostee, mine is at Patricks at the moment, arrived there last Thursday. My dealer said that they have a current turnaround time of about 5 days. I'm hoping that I can collect my car from my dealer on the Saturday of the Queens birthday long weekend.

The proposed strike action only affects container vessles and the loading/unloading of containers. Patrick Stevedores is the company that are having the strike against them with this. Patricks Logistics are a different division of the company all together which is the part that look after the automotive deliveries, freight forwarding etc. This part of the company isn't striking, hence why our cars still got off the boats on shedule....Well, the ones on the Morning Carol did anyway, only because as we now know, blues ships are faster

True the strikes were called off, but even with the strikes going ahead the unloading and pre-delivery aspects of the auto side wouldn't have been affected
