thanks again gavs

Last wednesday I made a quick visit to see my dealer hoping he'd have an update aaaand nope. He was in the middle of dealing with other customers but checked this sheet of statuses of cars he's selling for me and some cars had dates but mine is still at 'ordered' status. I signed the contract, put down deposit and all that jazz on the 8th of March and I understand there is that contract cool down period but I was expecting to atleast have an estimated build date instead of sometime 'early' next year. Is it unreasonable for me to expect some kind of update just a few months down the track? I am going a little crazy checking out upgrades I'm interested in but I'm just worried if I even have a place in the Polo GTI queue at 'ordered' status.. I had to leave in a hurry and he was busy at the time so I think I'll be annoying and end up heading back in for clarification. So this has probably been asked before.. but when does one expect nadcon updates or even just.. being in the system
you are unlikely to get an estimated build time even, until a few months before hand... so if you're eta is next year then probably not until later this year.

Chocomui, if you read through all of the issues and problems that people like myself and GTI Joe went through (frostee was relatively lucky) in regards to ordering and deliveries etc, we were very lucky in new build slot allocations becoming available for march builds. This is the only reason we knew when the cars were being built after a few months.
Now, on the other side of the coin, your dealer (while dealing with another customer it must be reitterated) is frankly, slack. All the dealership salespeople and dealer manager can access this magical screen we call NADCON which is basically their link to Wolfsburg head office. Fundamentally, it's their ordering screen and they can check status updates, progress of builds etc through this system. Looking at a piece of paper, well, that really isn't indicative of what they can actually check. It will only show cars that are properley booked in. Be nice and ask for a screen dump of teh status page and build page for your car, that way you can check the progress as well as making sure the correct options etc are being fitted to the car
Thanks guys for calming me crazy I was just concerned seeing other people on forums having build dates and whether my contract was just laying in a pile somewhere and not entered in the system properly but I'm sure that's not the case. Yeah I was hoping to see a NADCON screen dump or something more solid for me to believe in rather than just my name, some order ID and Ordered. Don't get me wrong I know I'm in for a 12 month wait! I just hope it doesn't become more than that.. haha and it doesn't help that nobody around me even understands the concept of waiting for a build date.. or that my car doesn't exist yet -.- they all buy cars in stock or used.
Yes I have been following you, GTI Joe and Frostee through this thread! haha although I think I missed all the dealer trouble at the start. Well thanks for explaining mr_bzr and gavs! I will go and ask for that status page and go back to saving up the $$. Looking forward to seeing you guys upgrade and mod them cars

woohooo!!! After weeks of entering my VIN in the tracking site getting the stupid "no records" message I entered it in today to find that my Polo GTI has been loaded onto the good ship "Tortugus" and is on route to Australia with ETA in melbourne of 22 July
Oh happy day!

If boheme is green in colour, then I saw it this morning walking out from my house.

Yep....that's her. The Melbourne Ports website shows up as her being docked. I can see a ship on the webcams but the quality is so poor that I can't tell if it's her.
Hope it won't be long now....my friend bought a Ford Focus recently and it only took a week from landing to pickup from the dealership!
Problem is that I still haven't sold my current car and I received the rego renewal last night. Plus the upcoming yearly service. Insurance isn't so bad....I'll just change it to monthly. I know that I can get a refund if I pay yearly but don't want to have to pay a full year's insurance only to wait for the refund. Sometimes I can't be bothered with it and just want to trade her in....
I love new cars but I hate the fact that you get hit with rego, insurance and servicing at one go.
