What have you done with your Polo so far (and today)
I asked my VW tech last week in regards to getting a tune and he said don't do it as it would void the warranty. He also said they can check if it has ever been tampered with as well. As much as I would love to have one I've taken the car back to VW about 4 times now and if anything else went wrong engine wise I'm afraid they would knock me back.

It won't void the warranty, it will just mean that if there is any problem and it is proven to be a result of the tune then it won't be covered. It is unlikely that a stage 1 tune would cause any problems but yes that is a risk that you take.
I wonder what he has to say about the sway bar and air filter, as technically your in the same boat there....
I am fairly confident going by what the guys at Canberra vw centre and the folks on here that have had a stage 1 done have said that I won't run into any problems.....touch wood! I know it has been covered numerous times but I'd love to hear from some other who have gone stage 1 re. opinions and warranty

This should be the case, but if you end up with a dealership blaming your tune, then what?
Like you say, not likely to cause issues, but with the 6R having plenty of issues around, I'd be thinking about getting something in writing. Can't hurt to have the conversation up front.
That's a good point, I guess I am quietly confident as I haven't had any problems so far. One thing I do know for sure though is that the car will only be going to the dealership in the event of a warranty claim, I have had much to much experience with the price of my local dealers service in the past to want to go down that path again. Plus I want the guys who do the work on mine to be the guys who service it!

Yeah and knowing my luck it would. My tech said wait until warranty expires then do it. So far I've had a clutch replaced not to mention they did something else to it which didn't work, the SW update, left front axle fixed and oil consumption test. I asked if my clutch would have been fixed under warranty if I had a tune and he said no we would have voided it.
He also said that the car doesn't need a tune it's a little 1.4L with a turbo and super charger the engine is already under pressure. I'm not taking what he says with much grace but he did make me think otherwise.

Probably not to everyones tastes but wrapped my bonnet matte black today, will be doing the roof over the next day or 2.
What initiated the inspiration for this can I ask?
If the wheels were matte black then I might understand...but I don't understand, what would motivate anyone to make this decision. That's just my opinion.
lol ok for starters the main motivation was paint protection.
I initially wanted my wheels in Matte Black but they only came in gloss (if/when they get any scuffs they'll be painted that way) and the matte actually ties in with the un-painted plastics in the front bar/wing mirrors and side skirts.
The matte itself is more a trial just to see if i'd like to wrap the whole car in it.

I agree... it's not a great mix in my opinion. Honestly I don't care much for the black Gti anyways... I would have gotten it if I got the sunroof I think the black on any of the other colours really stands out to much. Don't like how the new Golf has this as well.

Your tech is an idiot but hey, most of them are so what's new. Sounds like you need to find a new dealership mate.
