How lucky were we??

On 29 December, the bride and I walked in to the local dealer. We had been trying to buy a Polo GTI, like so many others, for about six months. We had actually just come from Skoda where if they had been able to give us a delivery date, we would have signed up for a Fabia RS. As we walked into the VW dealer we were considering buying a 118 Jetta. We spoke to one of the salesman who very much to our surprise told us that they had a silver GTI there, as we speak that had been delivered the day before and for a variety of reasons was available for sale.

We were told that two other people were already interested in it and given that it was a GTI that is quite probable. 30 minutes later we had signed up for the GTI for the bride and a Tiguan for me.

The GTI is a cracker, who would believe that an engine the size of a sewing machine can got like that. Ye Ha

I'm hoping that this is a legitimate cancelled order benni because otherwise, get it in writing from your dealership because there is a whole lot of wool sitting above your head right now and we all get the feeling it's about to be violently ripped down over your eyes!

Well, it's been ordered as an employees car through the dealership apparently. The sales manager is close with my god daughters mum - she put me in touch with him and hes looked after everything - all confirmed through emails and what not so im confident however i have no doubt that it will be pushed out a bit, it always happens.

Fingers crossed all is well... i was initally quoted 12 months from another dealer in the area so thats where my expectation was initally. anything better in a bonus

thats only a 5 month wait. I was advised 2 year wait only a month ago... what has changed?

I had a friend who was recently told 18 months - the dealer is a friend of a friend.. so was able to arrange something. fingers crossed.

That's a short time frame for you compared to the rest of us.....
How confident is the dealership on this ETA, considering two I spoke to recently have said they are now telling any new customers at least 12 months on any new orders, and VGA have said any orders placed around my order date back in June would go into production in Jan with delivery expected in April.

When you say a 2012 make, do you mean model as opposed to build?
I believe they are already classed as 2012 models now, can't remember what week this happened but someone on here could verify this, but if you meant 2012 build date, surely that would be near impossible if you are taking delivery in Feb?
Is this someones cancelled order by any chance?

My baby arrived at the dealer two weeks ago, picked it up last Thursday! I'm so glad I didn't back out. Been the most fun week of driving ever!

White 3dr Polo GTI, got the MY12 goodies but just missed out on the MY12.5 so no Bluetooth, though that's nothing eBay, VAGCOM and a free afternoon won't fix!

Have my custom number plate on order, so once that arrives it's photo time.

Only sad thing is now I have to sell the BMW I bought to tide me over in the 12 month wait... beautiful car, but it's time for a fun car instead.

Hey Guys picked up my new candy white polo gti last week just thought i would share a few photos, quality isnt great tho (taken from my iphone) but will have more once i get my window tint done and put in my RNS 510. Loving the drive tho took it for a bash up to the atherton table lands up here in cairns and have driven it like i have stolen it from day 1 and checked the oil today and hasn't used a drop so i guess the trick is to run it in hard.
