Quick question - I take it that the 206 does not come with a subwoofer?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It has the new display with no button as such.
still trying to work out how everything works - does anyone know how to bring up your contacts using the steering wheels controls? I can only see the recent call list displayed - that is on the display between the speedo.Last edited by Low_Maintenance; 09-09-2017, 06:17 PM.

Long time listener, first time caller. This forum has been great.
Had to laugh at both of you. I was in the same boat in May as well. Test drove, Mazda 6, Mondeo, Liberty, Levorg, WRX, Audi S3 and Mustang. I ended up buying the new Passat 206, and have been impressed ever since I bought it in June.
Verdict
Mazda 6 - Had good kit, for 2.5 L, was gutless as f***.
Liberty - When I was young, these were high end. Not as nice as I thought it would be.
Levorg - was ok, but was a wagon. We already have a soccer mum car, didn't need another.
WRX - thought they would have upgraded their motor by now. Was just ok inside.
Mondeo - Nice, but not AWD, and not that powerful.
Audi S3 - Man, this was nice, but too small (might as well buy the mustang). Then the sales guy said what about the S4 for $100k. hmmmm, no thanks.
Mustang - Yummy, but really only for 2.
I have only ever owned Falcons, last being the XR6T - 2007 model. That thing was a weapon. I would have loved to get the mustang (boyhood wet dream), but hard to get with kids, when its your daily. However, I really think that bang for buck, the Passat 206 is the business. With how comfortable it is, all the kit you get, the power and being AWD, if you have $65k (or less if you get a demo), and don't buy one of these, you have rocks in your head.Mine - Mustang GT MY20 - Carbonised Grey - "Nicky"
Hers - T-Roc 140 TSI Sport MY21 - Reveena Blue - "Rocky"
Previous - Passat 206TSI MY17 - Night Blue

hey guys. does any one have info about brakes for this 206tsi?
do they use the same pads and brake set up as the mk 7 golf R ?
family member might be considering buying one of these rocket ships after we compared it to my golf r and found it pretty similar just in a bigger format and less exhaust note.. bit more driveable for day to day and carrying things but god damn fast for an affordable wagon.

I test drove an Rline Wagon today. After about 15 years in Commodore's the jig is up! I must say I was very impressed. The performance, the features and the styling all ticked boxes for me.
I do occasionally tow a caravan, it's about 1900kg's the Commodore towed it with ease. The specs say 2200Kgs is possible, but the only question the sales rep couldn't answer for me was how it would 'really' tow the caravan. So... does anyone have any experience in using the Rline to tow a reasonable size van/boat etc? I've previously prioritised the 98% of driving I do over the 2% I do when towing the van, but I do need to be comfortable that it will be up the job. I'd really appreciate any feedback. Cheers

What is the ball weight on your van and what was the Commodores allowable weight. Or did you just hook up and go and not worry.Last edited by Guest001; 25-10-2017, 09:37 PM.2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B

The commodore ball weight limit is 210kgs and the van is about 150kgs so isn't a problem.
