Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Thanks Wynnston.

Looking to make some aesthetic tweaks at the moment. Gloss black vinyl wrap for small panel of roof behind the sunroof, brushed aluminium wrap for the mirrors, and possibly gloss black on the trim around the fog lights (a.la the R line touareg/tiguan).

Has anyone removed the euro plate holder on the front? Thinking gloss white plugs for the holes would be less noticeable than the massive black holder. Thoughts?

Thats exactly what i was looking for. Although im worried i will have 3 holes on each side, two for the euro holder, and one for the old number plate (my personalised plates are shorter)

It ready depends on how long the screws you or they used for your plates

          • Hi Fellow 206ers,
Just got working Mk2 Tiguan VCDS Tweaks from NZ_GolfR on my 206. Works great and now have to change colours everyday on the school run.

That's cool. I am assuming that the door strips stay white, or do they change colour too?

              • Nah, the door side strips are still white. I think they need a multi-coloured LED installed, I think.

let me know if you can't get it working, I had dramas with the original instructions, and i'll do me best to help. If so, i'll whack up my instructions for the 206.

                • Current drive away price listed as $60k on the VW website.... as long as it's purchased by Dec 31

                  • Good pick up. What’s that a saving of? Can’t find the old price.

It was about $65k... negotiable of course.

                      • Probably not bad then if you can get some free accessories thrown in (not sure they can ever move much price wise on those drive away deals?)

Is there a facelift due in MY19?

                        • A quick google tells me it is likely a facelift with more tech and and all-glass instrumentation.

do they use the same pads and brake set up as the mk 7 golf R ?

family member might be considering buying one of these rocket ships after we compared it to my golf r and found it pretty similar just in a bigger format and less exhaust note.. bit more driveable for day to day and carrying things but god damn fast for an affordable wagon.

Get ATE ceramic pdf same as Golf R. No dust, less rotor wear last 3x longer. Rotors are very expensive so these pads save a lot of $$$$

What is the ball weight on your van and what was the Commodores allowable weight. Or did you just hook up and go and not worry.

Consider an APR Stage 1 tune. Heaps more torque should be good for towing.
