Need a help about TSR

Hi

My 2016 R-Line Passat automobile has a complete pack. This includes the often utilized ACC and line assistant. These two choices, as you are all aware, maintain vehicles in the middle of the road. That car has a digital pilot dashboard mounted on top of it. Small triagle camera on a windshield, too.

Now, here's the question: why don't I have TSR if I have an acc, a line assistant, and probably a 5 camera? Does enabling that option make sense?

TSR will need to be activated, for Australian models this feature was not turned on.
OBDeleven or VCDS can activate it. Have a search for Passat coding, should be very similar to that of Tiguan or Golf.
Note - that most coding hints will tell you to have it set to fusion mode, this does not work with our current mapping data that well. The alternate for a more user friendly experience is to set it to "road sign detection".

You need an OBD eleven to enable it using that and it isnt perfect by a long way as in my area it still shows 70kph areas that havent been there for years.

If i go up and turn left it says 60 yet drive down from further up it says 70. also on the local highway which is all 100 in one place where there is an on ramp ,it changes to 70 till you pass it. Our maps are not fully coded as are Euro versions

If thats all you want to do ask on the appropriate forum here for someone in your area to do it for a few beers as a new one is probably $180 or so

New to the world of VAG (have a Cupra Leon = Mk8 Golf) and still learning about the electronics.

What doees the OBD Eleven do that Carista doesn't ? Or are they the same thing from different companies ?

Well havent ever had a Carista but would say that the other is more useful and can do a lot more than just diagnostics Eg I did 36 mods to my Tiguan most of which a Carista would have had no idea about. Go here and look OBDeleven You need a PRO licence for it to work well and unfortunately since 2020 VAG have made it harder for us to modify some things EG cant disable S/S electronically anymore Here is a list of most of what i managed to do

Carista can do a good deal of those coding mods as i used it in my Mk7 GTI to do quite a few of the same mods, as well as on a 2019 Skoda Octy RS. Must admit that I never tried some of those mods though as I either did not know about them / wasnt interested in them / or they were not relevant to my model.

I must admit that I dont think I have used Carista on anything newer than my brothers Skoda Octy RS 2019 model. But next time my wife rents a VW/Skoda ill plug the Carista in and see what it will let me change.

But yes OBDEleven is a more powerful tool than Carista, which is justified in the price difference.

But I still maintain that Carista can do basically everything that the average enthusiast would want or need. And they keep improving functionality in each update.

Biggest problem with any of them, even VCDS is that VAG has been gradually blocking us from doing that stuff. Ive had numerous attempts to get road sign speed to show in the AID in a 21 Kamiq LE but cant get it to do it. Main problem is the change of model of the camera and is almost impossible to do anything with the new 2Q one. Sometimes I wish i hadnt sold the Tig.. Did get dynamic headlights to work though which is a plus.

Yes I have heard you and several other forum members talking about how the newer 2020+ model cars are more 'locked down' in terms of what you can change with coding. Sounds like a good enough reason to keep a slightly older car with less finnicky or restricted electrical systems.

The dark horse here is carscanner pro - I think I paid $10 for the pro version. Highly functional data monitoring, coding (both one-click style and long coding), service functions etc.

It's not visually glamourous but is extremely functional. Coupled with a device like the Veepeak BLE+ for circa $55, it represents great value for money.
