Any idea how this broke? 1 too many launches???

And I'm still trying to figure out which bit is actually broken. By looks of things both gears still mesh together OK (no teeth stripped off). Is it the gear in the case that has come off it's shaft? Any idea how that can happen.

Yep that is my suspicion.. Too many launches under high torque. Also could be that part is in the lower part of the standard distribution curve of vw safety factor.

The gear in the casing is disconnected from the shaft so much so that I,could spin gear with finger without turning the shaft. I think impulsive force from the launches destroyed the coupling.

And guessing you decided not to go down the "warranty" route.

Is there any way to repair/refurb the existing unit? Or is it too far gone and just better off throwing in the bin?

I'm guessing a few less launches this time around

Lol .. Yep no more launches until I get a K04 because I know the max performance with current mods can achieve After get a K04 just one launch to get the value But that would be for next Xmas

I think broken unit can repair in a good workshop. If this one broke in same manner I will try to repair it bit tougher

Thanks bud.. But when you pull up to XR6 turbo or something similar it is hard to resist Actually I tried launch control with front wheel drive only once and it was really embarrassing with both wheels spinning and not going anywhere with tire burning smoke and smell lol. Can understand the misery of GTI guys

I thought if you were going to all that bother of swapping out turbos that you'd put something a little bigger on and do it properly

I can not afford that kind of money for big turbo upgrade and those DSG redline increase calibrations and mapping require d for creating that power will not be cheap

K04 is for me and word on the street is APR doing a hardware sale soon

Will be good to see the damage when you strip down the rest of the unit. I have done a bunch of launches in mine & so far - so good & that's with 275 rubber all round.

Curious to know if its broken a shaft or stripped a spline or gear.

I will try to strip it down more and post the result.

Yes it was a bad experience.. If this did not happened I am halfway toward to my turbo upgrade Now I am atleast 6 months behind the schedule. Lol

Transfer case was bitch to take out from the car.. Actually had to unbolt lower engine mount and push the engine forward to drop it to the floor. Putting new one back is another big story Anyway I learned a lot about the car during the process..

Performance Haldex Controller Tiguan

After getting my 4 Motion back, I thought why not give it a upgrade and have some fun. So a performance haldex unit arrived from HPA motor sports Canada. I did not bother getting switching cable or remote because unit by default is in race mode and I intend to run it like that.
