The guy clearly wasn't using LC in the Tig.... and no guarantees that the Kia wasn't chipped either. We don't get the turbo Kia here either so you really can't compare these cars in terms of what is available locally.

Top of my list at the moment is either a MY15 130TDI R-line or a base model MY16(?)162TSI Tiguan... just depending on when the update is going to arrive.

Saw the accountant yesterday and looks like I may be able to keep the Tig a little bit longer... Due to all the mods I've added along the way I've still got a bit of depreciation to go However still looking at doing something in the next 12 months.

Same problem though as it's going to be hard to find something to replace the Tig with.

I think it's partly due to the new turbo setup on the Gen 3 EA888 engine that they're getting those kind of gains.

So that's a 15 month wait for a new base model. Hmmmm

Seeing the results for the 3rd Gen EA888 engine it is crazy.
The GTI 7 is pulling 235kw at the engine (216kw at the wheels) with just a stage 1 ecu remap.
Not sure where you are getting those figures from ..... GTI 7 Stg 1 pushing a bit less than that in current testing ..... still a lot more than a GTI 6 Stg 2 though ..... and not far off a current K04 Tiguan .....

EDIT: It has been a week since I last saw the GTI 7 results so could be possible ..... a lot can happen in a week. I'm sure Guy will post the Aussie results (on the hub dyno) up in his thread when the software is released.

The only problem is I can't find any information about the MQB platform Tiguan anywhere. It still seems to be more than 12 months away... And probably closer to 18 months to 2 years by the time we see it here.

I'm still having a hard time finding anything to replace it with.

Going off previous release schedules, i would say motorshow release early 2015, Aus release September 2015 for the initial batch (usually fully loaded) and then February 2016 for the first lot of customer ordered factory builds.

It is a long time to hold out for it in the hope we get the EA888 3rd gen engine.

Hmmm. I think an import has too many issues to be a realistic consideration. I could imagine insuring it would be problematic and warranty non-existent... Coming from someone that is looking to modify their car too!

+1 Exactly. Without spending 2x as much it's hard to go past a modded Tig in terms of bang for buck. This is my dilemma and not one that is going to be easily/cheaply solved I fear.

We may become a 2 x Tig family yet
