How about a RSQ3 ?Originally posted by tigger73 View PostWell I've crossed a couple of potential cars off the list.
Jeep Grand Cherokee - too big. It will only just fit down the drive.... but then I can't open the door/get out when it's in the carport
Golf R - way too small in the back.
Or another tiguan with K04.
I heared these new TSI engines with integrated manifold in the head will not very good for high amount of power when tunned due to heat issues. They say R400 will have an external exhaust manifold like older TSI engines. Something to think about

Thanks it's been a journey for sure. I've tried to document things along the way so that 1) I can look back at it. 2) Others can maybe get some value out of some of the things that I've done (and some of the mistakes I've made). If it hadn't been for this forum and a number of others that had gone and done things to their Tigs before me, I probably wouldn't have started.Originally posted by Gooddog View PostHi Tigger - I'm at the other end of Tiguan ownership to you - mine is new and mysterious (and stock std).
Big ups to the huge effort you put in to yours - amazing from my pov.
But the biggest positive is your generous sharing of info here and thanks so much for that.
I think that all Aus delivered vehicles were fitted with Multi-Function Steering Wheels (MFSW). The earlier Tiguans were based on the Mk5 Golf platform and had red Multi-Function Displays (MFDs). Around 2010 these changed over to Mk6 Golf platform and the white MFD.Originally posted by Gooddog View PostMy car is a 2009 build Jap import (to NZ) and I have a couple of ?? you may be able to help with.
First is did your car have steering wheel controls before you upgraded the steering wheel. Mine hasn't but as an ex GTI owner would like to keep that bonus. Im wondering if the loom would accept an upgrade.
As far as fitting a steering wheel have a look at the flappy paddle upgrade thread:http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...uan-56968.html
You will likely have to install a steering wheel control module that supports the multi-function wheel. You may need to find someone that can scan your car and/or buy a RossTech VCDS cable for the job (if you don't already have one). You can then scan your car to find out what steering wheel control module you have to find out if you need to upgrade it.
There's a few places that sell steering wheels. If you get an updated wheel (different shape) you'll also have to get a new airbag....
No idea how the Jap imports would have been set up. On mine the large speedo is on the menu with all the other fuel consumption, trip timer, etc. It should be the same as your previous Mk5 Golfs... if it's not there then it may be a Jap oddity. I've got an autopolar FIS+ which also displays the speed. Nice thing is this speedo is the uncorrected ECU speed and is actually more accurate than the vehicle speedo.Originally posted by Gooddog View PostSecond ? is I can't find the digi speedo on my MFD even after scrolling thru all the menu options several times - any ideas on that ?
You never know... I only started with a couple of cosmetic upgrades and it kind of grew from thereOriginally posted by Gooddog View PostDon't think I will ever scratch the surface that you went to on yours but would like to tidy up a few "loose ends".
Cheers

I'll take your suggestion on-board but if you see me at the next VWW event with a swag in the back I think you'll know what the response was from the wife.

Have you considered if any of the children are a bit more of a hassle then perhaps 'losing' one somewhere and solving the space issue that way?

In reality I've got the car to where I am happy with it and now getting a little bored to be honest. I think keeping it as a stage 2 "sleeper" for my wife is a pretty good option to be honest. It's going to have the majority of the mods still on it - just taking off the bits that my wife doesn't like/won't use - including the black plasti-dip on the front grilleOriginally posted by Ramee View PostLol.. But seriously I feel sad what happening to this thread. Tigger should rename this to " My other car options after Tiguan "
Golf R - it is for you my friend. You and your wife can go racing with stage 2 Tig vs MK 7 R. Kids would love to be in either of those cars

Anyway it's time for a new chapter and if I can help a few people out with some parts to build their dream cars all the better
